How to choose a home heater?

How to choose a home heater? How to choose a heater to heat your home? For small apartments in standard high-rise buildings, it is best to choose heaters of three main types - an oil radiator, a fan heater and a convector. Let's consider all three options in a little more detail.

1) Oil cooler.

How does it work? The heating element of the radiator, as a result of its work, raises the temperature of the special oil that is poured into the device. This heat from the heated oil is transferred to the heater body, then to the ambient air. The oil radiator heats up the room rather slowly: it can take up to half an hour until the moment when it starts to feel warm. However, there is also a plus - after turning off, the device does not cool down quickly either, so the comfortable temperature remains for a long time.

In order not to freeze when you come home, it is better to purchase an oil cooler equipped with a timer. It is very convenient to program such a radiator to turn it on at a predetermined time. The most modern heaters are equipped with a special thermostat that maintains a constant temperature of the radiator.

Safety. Oil radiators can be safely left on for a long time: its heating element cannot burn out, because it constantly gives off thermal energy to the oil. It is better to choose a device equipped with special protection against overheating. It can always turn itself off if it gets too hot.

Oil heaters, which is very important, do not burn oxygen and house dust, which means that there is no unpleasant smell during its operation.

How to choose a home heater?A little advice. If you have stored the oil heater horizontally, then before turning it on, you must put it in a vertical, working position and wait at least an hour so that the oil can return "to its place", otherwise your device will simply burn out.

2) Fan heater.

Principle of operation. The device contains a heating coil, as well as an additional fan that drives ambient air through the coil. The house gets warm very quickly, but when the heater is turned off, the heat evaporates just as quickly. Also, during its operation, the device makes quite a noticeable noise and you need to get used to it. The fan heater is inexpensive, compact and, compared to an oil cooler, very light.

Safety. This device must not be left running without your supervision! This could very well lead to a fire. The heating coil gets very hot, burns house dust, which leads to a specific odor. The fan heater also burns oxygen - the room will be warm, but at the same time very stuffy. However, this mainly applies to older type of fan heaters. The most modern appliances are equipped with a ceramic heating element that does not burn dust and oxygen.

Council. It is better to choose a fan heater that is equipped with a rotary mechanism. It warms the surrounding air much more evenly.

3) Convector.

How does he work? Cool air enters the appliance at its bottom, warms up inside the convector, and then exits from the top. Thanks to this principle of operation, a natural and uniform heating of the room is obtained. Only it will not get warmer in the room right away. And if a fan is built into the heater, the heating will be more intense. Convectors are found both floor-standing and those that are attached to the wall. The option of attaching to the wall looks very aesthetically pleasing, but in this case it will not work in principle to transfer the convector from one room to another.

Safety. Some time ago, convectors were equipped with a spiral as a heating element. These devices burned oxygen intensively and were generally very fire hazardous. At the moment there are heaters with a tube, which is equipped with a large number of ribs. Such a scheme made it possible to significantly reduce the intrinsic temperature of the convector body. This temperature almost never reaches + 90 ° С, for most devices it barely reaches + 55 ° С.

Convectors, most often, can control the temperature - when the case heats up to the maximum value, they turn off.

Useful advice. It is more correct to purchase a convector equipped with an automatic thermostat. Such a convector maintains a predetermined temperature in the room, turning on from time to time for a certain time. This can save you energy.
