Teaching a child to make independent choices is the most important task in comparison with teaching a child to master objects of a household nature. Many child psychologists do not recommend making decisions for them, regardless of the child's age. Even the smallest child needs to be given freedom of choice.
For example, in the process of collecting for a walk, you need to ask the child about his desires, namely, where he wants to spend the time of the walk, in what clothes he wants to go for a walk, what toys he wants to take with him outside. Taking into account the child's answers and being guided by them, it is possible to prevent the development of infantility in the baby. The child will gradually begin to learn to make independent decisions, develop the ability to think and act on his own.
If parents want to bring up independence in their child, then they must entrust him with small tasks, taking into account his age and capabilities. For example, you might ask your child to help sort out shopping bags or carry dirty laundry to washing machine.
It is imperative that after fulfilling any request, the child should hear praise and encouragement, even if he did not complete the task in full. Only in this case will the child feel his significance, and he will have a desire to re-attempt to act.
The child should be encouraged to acquire his own experience. Parents should understand that if a child likes to disassemble a toy, for example, a toy car, into separate parts, this does not mean that he is indulging. The child's actions are aimed at learning something new, at knowing the internal structure of the subject. It is necessary to allow the child to acquire a sense of risk, of course, the risk must be reasonable. Phrases such as: "Do not touch, otherwise you will break!", "Do not go there, otherwise you will get dirty!" should be used with care by parents.
It is advisable for grown-up children to trust small tasks on a regular basis, but requiring responsibility. For example, you can ask your child to feed the aquarium fish every day, water the houseplants, or put food in a bowl for your pet. Of course, at first, parents will have to control the child's actions, reminding him of household chores. Praise and admiration for the young helper or helper is also important here.
The most important thing is to give him his own positive example when fostering independence in a child, since children begin to shape themselves in the image of the adults around them.
