The concept of chronic tonsillitis

The concept of chronic tonsillitisSore throat is sometimes an accidental episode in a person's life, but some people often get sick with it (usually those who have a general condition of the body, its reactivity is sharply reduced).

People suffering from frequent tonsillitis, less often after a single angina and very rarely, regardless of tonsillitis, develop a disease known as chronic tonsillitis (chronic inflammation of the tonsils).

The concept of chronic tonsillitisThere are moderate, intermittent small pains when swallowing, a feeling of awkwardness and sore throat, often bad breath. Sometimes, when coughing up, the so-called plugs come off. Due to the fact that the general phenomena in some cases are poorly expressed, and sometimes even absent, chronic inflammation of the tonsils proceeds without symptoms or almost completely invisible for patients. When examining the oropharynx, they can show signs of a chronic inflammatory process in the tonsils.

How does chronic tonsillitis develop?

Each amygdala has a significant number of lacunae (crypts). They often have winding passages, blindly ending pockets located deep in the tonsils. It can be difficult to get rid of pathological products, bacteria and accidental foreign bodies (food particles) that accumulate in them. The retention of this content in chronic inflammation leads to stagnation, decay; so-called plugs are formed. Long-term presence of the latter leads to irritation of the walls of the lacunae. This supports the chronic process in the tonsils. It turns out like a vicious circle. Purulent plugs "wound" the lacunae, and a response occurs in them in the form of desquamation of the epithelium, cellular elements, fibrin, etc.

According to the latest data, in the palatine tonsil with chronic tonsillitis, in the process of disintegration of its tissue, substances are formed that themselves adversely affect the body, causing allergies. The palatine tonsil has a well-developed neurovascular network. Irritations arising in the amygdala are transmitted to the cerebral cortex. From there, impulses come, which in turn are reflected in the condition of the tonsils and other organs. Often, chronic tonsillitis is a consequence of constant infection with active pathogenic microbes from rotten (carious) teeth with alveolar pyorrhea, etc.

An important factor that plays a large role in the development of this disease is poor nasal breathing. People who breathe mainly through the mouth cool the mouth and pharynx, and therefore the tonsils. The result of chronic tonsillitis can be frequent sore throats, called recurrent sore throats. Angina in this case should be considered as an exacerbation of chronic tonsillitis.

It follows from this that in most cases, chronic tonsillitis causes a number of local phenomena that occur in different people in different ways. Therefore, it is especially important to consult a doctor in a timely manner and bring the treatment to the end, even if the patient thinks that he has completely recovered. Frivolity here can lead to serious consequences, we will discuss them below.
