Roman forum
Forum (Forum Romanum) - the place where the whole social life of Ancient Rome took place. It was here that all the main events of the ancient city took place: holidays, gladiator fights, celebrations, laws and decisions were made here. The Roman Forum is a huge square with temples, churches, arches, tombs, often in ruins.
Things to do
Walk along Via Sacra - this street of ancient Rome was used for triumphal processions. Don't miss the burial site of Romulus, founder of the Eternal City. Estimate the scale of the Curia, where the Senate met. Find the "navel of the earth". You can wander around the Roman Forum for hours, imbued with the spirit of antiquity and imagining how life was in full swing in this ancient city.

Castle of Sant'Angelo
Silhouette of the Castle of Sant'Angelo (Castel Sant'Angelo) over the Tiber is familiar to everyone who has seen photographs of Rome. This huge fortress was built as a mausoleum back in the days of ancient Rome. Then the castle became a defensive structure, and now it houses the National War Museum and the Museum of Art. The bridge in front of the castle is decorated with statues of nine angels.
Things to do
Get acquainted with samples of weapons and ancient treasures that are kept in the castle of Sant'Angelo, view the famous angels on the bridge, and also look at Rome from the top of the fortress.
How to get there
Castel Sant'Angelo is located at Lungotevere Castello, 50. You need to get to the Lepanto metro station.
How to improve your experience
Don't go too fast across the bridge in front of the castle. It serves as a kind of street of arts - here you can watch and listen to performances of street artists, buy souvenirs or a painting.

Piazza di Spagna
Piazza di Spagna (Plaza de España, Piazza di Spagna) is the meeting point for Roman youth. In the evening, groups of young people gather on the Spanish Steps, who have fun until dark, and often until morning.

Walk around the square, visit the Keats and Shelley Museum, throw a coin into the Barcaccia fountain. Take a look at the Greco Café, which has been operating since 1760. In it Nikolai Gogol wrote the novel "Dead Souls", there were Goethe, Schopenhauer and many other famous people.

You can reach Piazza di Spagna by metro to Spagna station.

Piazza di Spagna is the ideal starting point for shoppers. From it departs Via dei Condotti - the street where the shops of luxury brands are located.
Palatine
The oldest hill in Rome, Palatine (Mons palatinus) is famous for the imperial palaces built here. It was from here that the "land of Rome" began. Now it is one of the most impressive ancient monuments in Rome.
Things to do
Walk along the Palatine Hill and the orange garden, which is home to many cats. Look at the house of Romulus - a stone age hut, where, according to legend, the she-wolf raised the founder of Rome.
How to get there
Take the metro to the Colosseo stop.
Outfit: Choose comfortable footwear that allows you to walk around the ruins a lot. Bring drinking water with you - there is nowhere to buy it on Palatine Hill.

Coliseum

Take a walk inside a huge amphitheater. Close your eyes and imagine how several thousand years ago the Roman Colosseum, during the performance, was filled with a crowd of people eager to see death for fun.
How to get there
The Colosseum is located on the square of the same name near the metro station of the same name.
Equipment: Wear comfortable shoes and sun protection. It is better to stock up on water in advance - in Rome, near the main attractions, the cost of drinking water increases.
How to improve your experience
Return to the walls of the Roman Colosseum in the evening to see it dramatically illuminated.
