Wheat porridge with onions and carrots in Unit pressure cooker

Ingredients

Wheat groats 2 glasses
Water 3 glasses
Bulb onions 2 pcs
Carrot 3 pcs
Frying oil
Salt pepper

Cooking method

  • I like the result more in a pressure cooker than in a multicooker. And faster.
  • 1. Chop the onion as you like (I have quarter-rings), finely chop the carrots (I have - into a quarter circle). Saute for 15-20 minutes (until golden brown). I fry in a frying pan and pepper it right there.
  • 2. Rinse the wheat well. Drain all the water (I do this through a large sieve).
  • 3. Pour 3 cups of water into the bowl of the pressure cooker (you can boil it - it will be faster).
  • 4. Switch on the "Cooking" program (aka "rice" or "crumbly porridge").
  • 5. Pour in cereal, salt, stir. Do not close the lid, but cover it, leaving a gap of several centimeters. The porridge will boil quickly. Stir periodically until the porridge thickens. It takes 6-10 minutes.
  • 6. As soon as the wheat has thickened, turn off the program, add browned onions and carrots to the porridge. Mix well.
  • 7. Now close the lid on the pressure cooker tightly.
  • Turn on "Cooking" again and wait for the end of cooking.
  • After five minutes, my pressure is already gaining, and after another 15 minutes the signal of the end of cooking sounds. I wait for 5 minutes, turn the valve to equalize the pressure and open the lid.
  • 8. Mix well.
  • The porridge is more crumbly than viscous. It can be used both as an independent dish and as a side dish.
  • Bon Appetit!

Tell me, what is the point of this particular cooking order? Why is it impossible to leave everything at once (well, just fry the passiroku first) into a saucepan, close it and on "Rice"?

I tried to stick to the original recipe from the old book "Tips for Young Housewives" as much as possible, but I reduced the amount of water.
It seems to me that if you fall asleep all at once, then the porridge may turn out to be viscous, maybe in this case you need to pour less water? try it. just in case, I bring original recipe from the book "Tips for young housewives" - Wheat porridge with carrots:

For 2 cups of wheat groats: water - 4 cups, carrots - 2-3 roots, onions - 4 heads, butter - 4 tablespoons, salt and herbs - to taste.

Wheat porridge is sorted out and washed. Peeled and washed carrots and onions are finely chopped and, stirring, sautéed for 15 minutes. Pour wheat groats into a saucepan with boiling and salted water and, stirring occasionally, cook until thickened. After that, add sautéed carrots and onions, mix, cover and put in the oven or on the edge of the stove. At low boiling, incubate for 50 minutes. Before serving, put porridge on the plates, season with melted butter and sprinkle with finely chopped dill or parsley.
I used to make this porridge strictly according to the recipe in a thick-bottomed Teflon saucepan on a gas stove. And no matter how small the fire was, it still formed a crust, repeating the pan.
In a pressure cooker (and in a multicooker), with the original cereal-water ratio, the porridge was viscous. Although delicious.
