Description of the Kitfort KT-945 steamer
The vertical steamer is a serious competitor to steam irons: it allows you to iron any clothes and textiles extremely quickly. This is a thorough care of things that does not take much time.
Unlike irons, which iron fabrics and clothes that are placed horizontally, the steamer is mainly used to process clothes and fabrics placed vertically. At the same time, clothes can hang on the hanger of the steamer, on an ordinary hanger suspended from the steamer, simply on a hanger, on a clothes dryer or on a rope.
A steamer is a more functional and versatile device than an iron. In addition to ironing and steaming, the steamer processes things with a powerful jet of hot steam, thus cleaning and disinfecting. In addition to steaming clothes, you can steam curtains and drapes (you do not have to remove them for this), upholstery, mattresses, beds. In this case, you will not only smooth out the folds, but also refresh things, and also disinfect them, since the hot steam kills dust mites and other microorganisms well. To achieve the best cleaning effect, you can use a nap brush or a steaming cloth on the iron.
But the steamer also allows you to iron things that are usually not ironed, for example, fluffy dresses with a complex structure, fur coats and sheepskin coats. It can also be used to prepare things for the season that have a musty smell during storage - the steamer solves this problem without any washing. But not only that. Steam pretty well removes foreign smell from clothes. For example, if you were in a smoky room and your clothes smelled of tobacco, then using a steamer you can quickly remove the smell and refresh them.
KT-945 is equipped with a clothes hanger with adjustable width. The hanger makes ironing easier and faster.
At the bottom of the steamer housing there is a storage compartment for the fluff attachment and protective mitten.
The steam supply regulator is located on the body of the device and allows you to set one of four levels of steam supply: 1 - the minimum amount of steam, 4 - the maximum amount of steam.
An operating indicator is built into the regulator. The operation indicator comes on when the knob is set to "1", "2", "3" or "4", it means the steamer is on. The operation indicator turns off when the steam control is set to the “off” position - the steamer is off.
The removable water tank makes it easy to refill. Double telescopic support for extra rigidity and stability. There is an iron holder and a foldable hanger. The set includes a protective mitten and a bristle brush.
The steamer body has a floor-standing design and is equipped with wheels for easy movement.
The operating principle of the steamer is simple. The water from the tank flows by gravity into the boiler, where it heats up and evaporates. Steam flows through the steam hose and exits the steam nozzles on the working surface of the steam iron.
Preparation for work and use
Unpack the steamer and unwind the power cord. Wipe the body of the steamer with a damp and then dry cloth.
Place the steamer on a flat, horizontal surface. If the steamer is positioned at an angle or on an uneven surface, water from the tank may not get into the boiler, as it flows there by gravity.
Kitfort KT-945 Steamer Assembly
- Insert the two parts of the telescopic rack into the side slots in the device body and fix them.
- Open the locks on the counter. In order to extend the rack with one hand, hold the lower part of the rack, and pull the upper part to the desired height and secure with a lock.
- Place the hanger on the upper section of the telescopic rack, secure with a lock.
- Pull the horizontal bar down if necessary.
- Connect the steam hose. To do this, pull the lock towards you, insert the steam hose connector all the way into the socket on the body, release the lock.
- Hang the steam iron on the iron holder.
- The width of the hanger is adjustable, just pull the hanger in different directions. This is convenient if you are steaming clothes of different sizes.
- Place the fluff attachment on the iron, if necessary. We recommend placing the brush head on a completely cooled iron. Touching a hot surface can cause burns! To install the brush head on a hot iron, hold the brush head in a mitten with your hand. Turn off the steam before doing this.
- Install the trouser steaming clip if necessary. You can install either a clip or a pile attachment.
- Use the supplied protective mitten to attach the brush head to the hot iron. To do this, turn off the steamer, wait for the steam to stop, put on a mitten and attach the nozzle.
Note. At the bottom of the case there are buttons for removing the stands.
It is recommended to put a coated mitten on your hand so as not to accidentally burn yourself with steam or hot surfaces. However, do not direct the steam jet directly onto the mitten - the steam jet is so powerful and hot that in this case it will even pierce the mitten!
On the horizontal bar, you can hang those things that are inconvenient to hang on a hanger: towels, scarves, T-shirts and the like. If the bar is not needed, lift it up.
Note. Do not apply excessive force to the plank or anything hanging on it to avoid breaking the plank.
Switching on and off
- Remove the water tank from the housing by pulling it upwards using the handle.
- Turn the reservoir over and unscrew the reservoir cap counterclockwise.
- Pour water into the reservoir and screw the cap clockwise. Place a reservoir of water in the steamer body.
- Connect the power cord to a power source.
- Turn on the steamer by turning the steam regulator to the desired position - "1", "2", "3" or "4". The operation indicator will light up. It takes a few minutes to warm up. Steam dispensing starts automatically.
- To turn off, turn the steam control to the “Off” position. The operation indicator will turn off. Note.
When you turn off the steamer, steam does not stop immediately; it takes a few minutes for the remaining steam to escape.
Steaming tips and tricks
Take a steam iron in one hand and hold the bottom of the garment with the other, creating a slight tension. You can put your clothes on the ironing board. For your safety, we strongly recommend that you wear a mitten on your other hand. Bring the iron to the surface of the fabric, lightly pressing the working part of the iron to it, and start steaming back and forth (from top to bottom). We recommend starting with the areas with the most folds, as well as with items of clothing that are denser (collar, sleeve cuffs).
Attention! Be careful not to topple the steamer. The steamer is equipped with castors. To prevent it from moving during steaming, rest the toe of your foot on the lower part of the body.
With the help of a steamer, you can iron curtains vertically without removing them from the eaves. It is enough to place the steam iron at a small distance from the surface of the fabric and carry out the standard steaming procedure. Please note that depending on the density of the fabric from which the curtains are sewn, steam will penetrate through the fabric in a different volume. Some steam can accumulate on the surface of windows if the curtains are too close to them.
To remove soluble contaminants such as stains on clothing or upholstery, it is recommended to use a steaming rag on the steam iron. Then the waste dirt will be absorbed into the rag. You can make a steaming rag with a regular cotton towel, just wrap the towel over a steam iron.
Steam on both sides to smooth heavily wrinkled fabrics.
If folds are difficult to smooth out, for example, due to the fact that the fabric has been overdried, we recommend sprinkling it with water first. Re-steaming may be required to smooth dense fabrics.
After steaming, the fabric may be slightly damp, so do not immediately put the item away for storage, but dry it by hanging it on a hanger or spread it out on some surface.
If you need to iron classic trousers, iron arrows on them or smooth out deep folds, use the trouser clip, which is installed on the steam iron. The working part of this clamp is located in front of the steam iron. In order to iron the arrows, you need to press the clamp handle with one hand, with the other hand, bring the pant leg between the ironing surface and the clamp frame, creating a slight tension to form the correct line, and then release the handle. Then, in an up and down motion, iron the arrows, holding the bottom of the leg with your free hand.
Take special care when steaming delicate fabrics and fabrics that could be damaged by splashing water.
When steaming delicate fabrics, you can put a rag on the iron for steaming, then the condensation formed on the surface of the iron will be absorbed into the rag and will not get on the clothes.
The bristle brush is designed to clean the fabric while steaming. If the pet's hair is stuck to the blouse or trousers, the steam will remove the static charge from it, and the brush pile will allow you to quickly and conveniently collect it.The nap brush can be used to clean upholstered furniture or teddy bears.
Do not carry the steamer by the telescopic stands. The height of the posts is adjustable with three locks.
Do not use metal hangers or hangers as they can rust from the steam.
When steaming things located on a horizontal surface, it is advisable to put some porous and vapor-permeable material underneath (felt, cotton blanket or mattress, several layers of loose fabric). Otherwise, the steam will not be able to pass through the thing to be steamed, since it will have nowhere to go from below, as a result, the steam will only affect the surface layers, and the effect of steaming will be less. When using an ironing board, the advantage should be given to one in which the bottom of the working surface is not solid, but made of mesh, then the steam will pass through it well. Do not use wooden surfaces, as steam can damage them.
Care and storage
Wipe the body of the steamer with a damp cloth. Rinse the water tank after each use to avoid stagnation and foul water. For the same purpose, do not store water in the tank for a long time.
Disconnect the hose and telescopic arms before cleaning. Remove the top hanger, then open the clasps and fold the racks. Squat down and find the levers on the bottom of the body. Move them to the "Open" position and detach the stands.
Wipe the area under the tank inside the cabinet, as mucus and organic deposits can form in this area. Run your finger in the area under the reservoir, if mucus and plaque remains on your finger, then the area under the reservoir is dirty. Wipe the area under the reservoir with a damp cloth moistened with a mild vinegar solution. If necessary, pour the vinegar solution under the reservoir and let sit for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, tilt the steamer and drain the solution. Rinse the area thoroughly and gently under running water, use a brush to clean hard-to-reach areas.
Descaling the boiler
- Turn off the steamer and unplug the power cord.
- Wait for the device to cool down completely (at least 30 minutes).
- Remove the water tank and empty it completely. While doing this, tilt the reservoir back and forth several times to drain water from the front of the reservoir. Move the reservoir to the side.
- Place the steamer over a sink or bathroom.
- Turn the steamer over and drain the water from the boiler. And don't do this with a hot steamer, as hot water from the boiler can scald or ruin the enamel on the tub or sink.
- Dilute the descaling agent in water and pour it into the boiler through the funnel into the steam hose opening or into the opening under the reservoir. Follow the instructions for use of the descaler used.
- After a while, drain the solution, then rinse the boiler several times with water to remove any residual product. To rinse the boiler is to pour clean water into the boiler several times and drain it.
- If you are not comfortable turning the steamer over every time, then you can drain the water from the boiler through the plug, which is located at the back of the case. The plug is unscrewed counterclockwise.
- After draining the water, screw the drain plug back on.
- Replace the water tank.
- Attach the telescopic arm and hose.
Advice
Use demineralized or distilled water to reduce limescale build-up.
If you use the steamer frequently, change the water in the tank regularly, preferably once a day, to prevent deterioration and blooming, otherwise organic residues will enter the boiler and cause unnecessary precipitation and odors to form there. Use boiled water to reduce water spoilage.
Storing the steamer
- Turn off the steamer and unplug the power cord.
- Hang the steam iron on the holder.
- Fold down the telescopic legs.
- Place the steamer in storage.
Before long-term storage, wait 20-30 minutes until the steamer has completely cooled down, then drain the water from the boiler as described in the chapter "Descaling the boiler". Store the steamer in a cool, dry place out of the reach of children.
