Ingredients

Flour (I have a / c) 250 g
Chilled or frozen butter 50-70 g
Semi-hard cheese 100 g
Baking powder 1.5-2 tsp
Whey (or milk) 150 g
Salt pinch
Caraway seeds (seeds) or greens, any optional taste
Egg yolk + 1 tsp water (for lubrication) 1 PC
Sprinkle cheese 20 g

Cooking method

  • I liked the soft airy buns with a creamy cheese taste so much that I hasten to share the recipe!
  • Prepare quickly and easily! If the cheese is already grated, then you can immediately turn on the oven for heating.
  • Cheese scones Sift flour with baking powder and a pinch of salt. The butter can be taken in any degree of cooling: grate a piece from the freezer on a coarse grater, if the butter is not frozen, then cut into small cubes into flour.
  • Cheese scones Lightly grind the butter and flour into crumbs.
  • Cheese scones Add cheese grated on a coarse grater.
  • Cheese scones In the original recipe, chopped greens were added - I have cumin seeds - I really like this combination.
  • Cheese scones Stir dry ingredients and pour in whey (or milk). Knead the dough quickly. At first it is a little sticky, but do not rush to add flour, literally in half a minute under the influence of the baking powder, the dough will become moderately dense and not sticky.
  • Cheese scones You can mold the scones immediately on a baking sheet covered with a Teflon mat. Dust with a small amount of flour, lay out the dough and shape it with your hands into a rectangle at least 1 cm thick, about the height of your finger.
  • Cheese scones Cut out triangles or squares. It is convenient for me to do this with a wavy knife.
  • Cheese scones Spread out the scones at a distance from each other.
  • Cheese scones Brush with yolk mixed with a spoonful of water.
  • Cheese scones Sprinkle a little grated cheese on top of each nib.
  • Cheese scones Put in an oven preheated to 200-210 C and bake for 15-20 minutes until browning.

Very airy, delicious buns! Recommend! They reminded me of Hungarian pogachiki in taste, but those made from puff yeast dough + take longer, and they contain more oil.

And today I again with scones - again I wanted to! This time I conceived them taller - I stretched the layer higher - a little more than 1.5 cm.By the time they baked for 1 minute more, but I myself was distracted, it was also possible to pull it out after 15 minutes. Lush, soft, delicious!

Yulyash, I baked your wonderful scones. Just cut into squares, very tasty. The composition is very simple, but the taste is richer. Probably cheese makes itself felt. Baked at Pizmaker Kitforth. 15 minutes. I made two mistakes - rolled it a little thinner than necessary and without salt They baked, rose, even that there is no salt, I will not say that it is bad, no ... What a taste is very creamy and sweet, probably. And of course the top is light, but sprinkled with cheese.
I will bake more, now with salt and thicker.
And on the fault, some kind of stratification is visible. Maybe because almost immediately everything gathered into a ball and rolled out the layer.
Yes, I forgot, I took vegetable oil, 50 ml.




Yulechka, what am I ... I also revealed one mistake in baking at the PP, quickly pulled out the first batch, laid the second and sat down to write you a report. I heard the bell rang and after that the scones lay in the hot PP for an extra 5 minutes. I went to pull out, and they are soooo beautiful there, just like in your photo.
