Frozen turkey fillets in a water bath in a slow cooker

Ingredients

Turkey thigh fillet, frozen 550 g
Onion 2 pcs
Salt, ground black pepper taste
Worcester sauce 6-10 drops
Dry oregano, garlic, basil taste
White bread 1 plastic
Cream 6 tbsp. l.

Cooking method

  • In this case, I offer not so much a recipe as a method of preparing juicy, not cottony, tasty meat without defrosting it first.
  • It is not recommended to cook frozen food IN BOWL in my slow cooker.
  • This means I will cook in a water bath without staining or injuring my bowl.
  • The meat is delicious cold, too, and is normally cut into a sandwich

The dish is designed for

3

Time for preparing:

6 o'clock

Cooking program:

LOW

Here is the composition of the products
Frozen turkey fillets in a water bath in a slow cooker
In a heat-resistant bowl I put finely chopped onion on the bottom, meat from the freezer on top.
Salt and pepper the meat, sprinkle with dry garlic, oregano and basil only on top, so there are less seasonings than it would have been if I had played the meat from all sides.
Dripping on the meat with Worcestershire sauce

Pour about 2 cm of water into the bottom of the slow cooker bowl and place a bowl of food

After 6 hours on Low I have completely cooked meat, having checked it with a meat thermometer (80 ℃).
I take out the meat, and thicken the resulting sauce with plastic bread soaked in cream and grated

It is not recommended to cook frozen food in my slow cooker IN A BOWL
Oksan, it is dangerous to cook something frozen in any ceramic bowl = a sharp drop in t between a frozen product and a heating bowl can provoke a crack, or even microcracks are not needed either

Irsha,
There are different slow cookers, there are those in which you can cook frozen food in the AUTO mode, it is specially created for this.
And there is a simpler one, like mine, without AUTO mode and without the ability to safely cook freezing.
Whoever has an Auto may not bother, and I save my bowl in this way, the meat is really tasty.
Irgata
Some models have an Auto mode, which, after turning on the slow cooker, brings the dish to a boil in High mode, and then automatically switches the slow cooker to Low mode, in which the dish is brought to a condition.

so this mode is not suitable for slow defrosting
if the bowl is ceramic, it is afraid of a big difference t

and your way - in a water bath - is just right for frozen meat, it will thaw softly, without temperature shock

Irsha,
Ira, I made a literal translation of the AUTO mode in our topic, look there if you want.
Described as PERFECT for frozen food

For the praise, THANKS, FRIEND, the opinion of the practitioner is very valuable to me
Between us, I also think that the bath is better and safer, whatever one may say
Look, what a clean cup I have, I took a photo of it on purpose, not a single speck

I'm just going to write a horror story - after the baked milk, which gives such a fried rim, I stew the meat, and since I don't put a little, then the milk rim is closed with meat, the meat gives its rim

but the milk one dissolves under the meat juices (milk for meat - there are no taste disputes), and the meat rim is washed off much easier, for some reason

apparently - the milk is just sweeter, it boils and caramelizes

Irsha,
Ira, you would somehow formulate your sensible ideas so that you do not get lost on topics
And then at least follow you and write down, practical experience is precious, it's a pity if it disappears

somewhere I heard or read about it .. maybe some French blog .. but also noticed that in this mode it seems like you can cook without preliminary defrosting.
OksanaAS always a great recipe and cooking method too!

Irsha,
And as if more compact than 380 pages of the topic, it would be better, such as PRACTICAL conclusions.
