Ingredients

liquid caramel or maple syrup or honey 1 tbsp. l.
butter 2 tbsp. l.
cookie crumb 1/2 cup
puff pastry 1 kg
butter for lubrication 4 tbsp. l.

Cooking method

  • 1. Apples need to be washed and peeled. Cut the apples into thin slices. Sort out the raisins and cover with warm water. Combine the sliced ​​apples, squeezed juice from half a lemon, brandy / amaretto, prepared raisins, brown sugar, caramel / maple syrup / honey, melted butter and spices.
  • 2. I have a puff yeast-free dough for 1 kg. Divided into 2 parts, i.e. into 2 rolls. Roll out the two sheets as thinly as possible. The puff will not go away completely - there will be no obvious layers, but crispness will remain. Lubricate the leaf with butter (I tried both melted and just soft, no difference). Divide the prepared gingerbread / macaroon crumbs into two and sprinkle half on the buttery surface of the dough. Grease the second sheet with oil and sprinkle with the rest of the cookie crumbs.
  • 3. Divide the filling into two parts and place on both sheets. Line the filling in the middle of the sheet.
  • 4. Roll the dough and filling into a roll.
  • 5. Grease the rolls with melted butter and make cuts along the whole roll in 5-6 places.
  • 6. The oven will need to be preheated to 175 degrees. The strudels are baked for about 25 minutes. A golden brown crust will appear on their surface. Serve the strudel warm.

There are a lot of strudel recipes on our website, but I didn't find exactly this one. Maybe she didn't look closely. Recipe from the Cook website. ru, I like it very much because it turns out remarkably from purchased dough, you don't need to bother, and the taste is slightly different than that of the classic strudel. I have a grandfather from the Volga Germans, I remember well how his sisters stretched the dough with sheets on their hands, it turned out thin, like a filo. Unfortunately, my hands are in the wrong place ... ... Therefore, this recipe stuck with me.
