  • In the center of Berlin in the Alexanderplatz district on Muhlendamm street there is an unusual Hemp Museum. There are only five such museums in the world, including the Berlin one. Four others are the Cannabis Museum in Amsterdam, the Marijuana Museum in Barcelona, and one each in Switzerland and Italy. An excellent five-leafed leaf hangs at the entrance, so it's impossible to pass by. It is quite possible to drop in with children and show that this is, first of all, not a drug, but a wonderful versatile useful plant. 250 sq. meters of the museum there is an exposition that can tell a lot about how hemp was used in different countries, various products were made from it, and much more. Cultivation, industrial use, medicine, cosmetics. Still, people have been dealing with cannabis for over 10,000 years, and there is no need to dwell on the narcotic effect - there is a lot of interesting things behind this plant. The museum also has a special store with literature on this topic. In the museum, you can see various products made from it (fabrics, soap, etc.), and you can see how it grows in a special greenhouse. The museum is small, in the basement, and consists of 5 rooms. It contains information about the role this herb plays in the culture of different peoples of the world, listen to music, find out how it is used in medicine, cosmetology, and other areas. Tools for collecting and growing hemp, some types of clothing and fabrics, carpets are also exhibited here. There is a collection of pipes, hookahs, for those who are interested in a special way. Everywhere there are pictures, posters of a historical nature, documents on a relevant topic. The museum staff speaks German and English.
  • Christmas hemp soup (Hanfsuppe)
  • Hemp soup is a traditional dish from Silesia and is served as a first course on Christmas Eve. It is prepared from the seeds of industrial hemp. The seeds are ground (coarsely crushed) and a decoction is prepared in water, then it is thickened with millet, mixed with vegetable broth, seasoned with salt and sugar. Do not use broth as it distorts the taste of the hemp. You can also add milk or cream to the soup.
  • Recipe from the German Traditional Food Site:
  • "1 large cup of hemp seeds
  • 1-2 tbsp. l. millet flour
  • salt
  • 1 small pinch of sugar "
  • Recipe from Nuremberg 1691:
  • "Cook hemp seeds in water, then grind in a mortar. Rub through a fine sieve, add broth, white wine and finely chopped onions, season with salt and pepper, add saffron and bring to a boil. Fry white bread on lard and break into soup."
  • Or here's a recipe made from hemp flour:
  • "200ml milk
  • 3 pcs., Eggs
  • 2 tablespoons hemp flour
  • 80 g flour
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 pinch nutmeg
  • 40 g butter
  • 1 liter of broth
  • 2 tablespoons of onions "
  • Christmas hemp soup (Hanfsuppe)
  • The older the recipe, the fewer the ingredients, so you can only focus on your preferences. I cooked a very simple soup, 2 servings. Since I didn’t find hemp seeds, I used hemp flour and hemp oil (I hope that such a product change will pass on a competitive basis). There is a more advanced version of this soup on the chefkoch.de website, which I will describe.
  • 1. Boil the pearl barley in a pressure cooker for 30 minutes or in any other way.
  • 2.Prepare vegetable broth with allspice and bay leaf in 2 liters of water to choose from any product: onion, parsley root, carrot, turnip, kohlrabi, broccoli, celery, cauliflower, potatoes. You can pre-fry the vegetables on rast. oil, and then pour water (I cooked like this). Cook vegetables for 1.5 hours and puree after cooking.
  • 3. Coarsely grind the hemp seeds in a mortar. We need to get a milky liquid from the seeds, for this we boil the crushed seeds in a linen cloth in water, and then squeeze the milk out of them into a separate bowl. Boil the bag of seeds again and squeeze it into a bowl again, thus collecting 2 liters of hemp milk.
  • 4. Grind the millet in coffee grinders to the state of flour.
  • Christmas hemp soup (Hanfsuppe)
  • Dilute millet flour in 0.5l of hemp milk and pour the hemp milk into the rest. Cook on the stove until thick.
  • 5. Combine vegetable puree soup and hemp millet soup, bring to a boil, season with salt and a pinch of sugar. To serve in a bowl of soup, add 1-2 tbsp. l. pearl barley, season with sour cream and add milk to taste.

Natalia, I am also from Novosibirsk. Where did you buy the hemp flour? I bought the oil at the Central Market. I would be grateful for a hint. I was interested in the idea of using hemp (we have a hemp sheet - great). I want to see the seed at the pet store.
NataliARH
hen, we have a good firm "compass of health", I only saw it there 🔗 addresses on the site, earlier in Soviet times on Pisareva (where they have an office) there was a store of camelina, vegetable oil, and now they have been renamed to this company, as far as I understand ... I did not think about the pet store))) ... It is exotic to add it to soup, but very much even to bread! there, by the way, when buying for 500 rubles, they give a card for a 15% discount immediately and for all other purchases
Nagira
Natasha, yesterday I admired hemp seeds on Spetzl ...
Today - for such a soup .... especially attractive because of the vegetarian
I recently bought peeled hemp seeds, they are like a semi-flour-semi-pipe mass.
Now I know where to attach it, otherwise for now only in salads as a sprinkle or in dressing
but it's a pity to add to bread ...
Thanks for such interesting recipes.
NataliARH
Irina, well, at least someone will come in handy, otherwise everyone goes by))))
only I didn’t quite understand: is it like you have slightly ground? how much are? I have 200gr of flour worth 70r, maybe a little more, this is before NG, I still bought packs of 6 ..... then I take a picture, I did not find a suitable picture in the internet!

my package says: "Add hemp flour to ready-made soups and side dishes, dairy products (1-2 tbsp. l. per day)"
Nagira
Natasha, will certainly come in handy! Only a smaller portion, otherwise these seeds are German ecologically perfect, but expensive - 250g for 500 re ... And yes, when they were cleaned of the shell, they fluffed up, as it were, a little flattened
but more or less integrity is observed, the oil has not yet been pressed
I envy the availability of cannabis with you
And thanks for reminding me of the sour milk, I thought to add it to yogurt, but then it flew out of my head. And this is a healthy snack
NataliARH
a little expensive, yeah .... so this is not flour, but the flour is almost fat-free, so it's cheaper .... why do you want to squeeze oil out of them?
Nagira
No, I don't want to squeeze anything. This is me to the fact that (as you write) - something has already been taken out of the flour and squeezed out, and in the seeds - a more complete trace element composition, this is how I console myself because of the rather big price
