Everyone at home has an iron, but not many know that an iron press, steam generator or steamer can be a nice addition to the iron. It makes no sense to explain to the happy owners of steam ironing equipment how useful all this equipment is in everyday life, and for those who have not yet purchased an ironing press, steam generator or steamer, we will try to reveal all their advantages in the article below.
This article is dedicated to the ironing press, we will open for you all its possibilities, focusing your attention on the variety of operations performed by this technique.
To many, the ironing press seems like an unnecessary clutter of the home interior, just like, for example, a food processor, but with sufficient knowledge of its functions and purposes, you can work wonders.
Here is a list of the functions of the ironing press:
Dry ironing: for synthetics, nylon, perlon, etc., at a low temperature (if necessary with a dry interlining cloth).
Steam ironing: for cotton, linen, bleached fabrics (towels, sheets, shirts, blouses, etc.) Use a humidifier for more efficient use of steam.
With interlining: for knits and woolen, jersey, etc.
When ironing monograms and embroideries, place them right-side up on the ironing platform to create relief.
When ironing, the correct position of the laundry on the platform is very important.
Carefully place the laundry on the platform, smoothing it with your hands, but do not forget about the heated surface of the ironing press, it can burn your hands.
If your garment is bulky, first place it behind the ironing platform and push the garment towards you as you iron it. If the width of the garment exceeds the width of the ironing platform, it is recommended to iron "towards yourself" in two steps, first the left side, and then the right side, or vice versa, as you prefer.
When ironing, slowly lower the heating platform onto the product, holding it on the fabric for a few seconds as instructed, and also slowly raise the platform.
The pressure, that is, the ratio of effort per square centimeter, can be different in household presses. This value fluctuates between 25-35 g / cm2, which is approximately equal to a total pressure of 35-45 kg.
Below is a list of products that can be ironed quickly and easily using an ironing press:
Sheets and duvet covers:
Fold the garment 4 times and place it behind the ironing platform.
Iron by pushing the product towards you from the back of the press.
Always use this trick with big items.
Towels:
Fold the towel in half, edge to edge, center the ironing platform, then iron.
Napkins and handkerchiefs:
Place a tissue or handkerchief on the ironing platform and iron.
You can place 2 or 3 of them on an ironing board and iron them all in one go.
Men's shirt:
Iron the cuffs of the shirt using the pad provided.
To position the shirt correctly on the ironing platform, place it on the back left with the collar facing you.
Place the arm sleeve along the beveled edge of the ironing platform.
Iron the second sleeve as well.
Place the ironed sleeves on the right back of the ironing platform.Place the shoulder and collar seam at the edge of the platform.
Move the shirt towards you. Iron the part of the shirt below the sleeve.
Continue ironing further, moving the shirt towards you, until you reach the front turn.
When ironing the front fold, hold the ends of the collar with your fingers so that the edge of the fold is against the ironing board.
Collar. Moisten the collar and slightly lower the heating platform. Stretch the collar well by hand, then iron it right side up.
Shoulder. The shoulder is ironed with the included pad. Leave the lace or ruffles hanging. Use only mini pressure.
Pants:
Use an overlay fabric for woolen and any dark fabrics.
Place the waist of your pants on the supplied pillow.
Strike off the waistband and folds by rolling the pants around the pillow.
Front pleats at the bottom of the trousers. Both legs are folded together. Let the hem or cuff of the pants hang over the edge of the platform, in this case there will be no mark on the fabric. Press lightly on the scar, then iron the rest.
Front pleats at the top of the trousers. Are ironed sequentially.
The back folds are steamed in the same way.
Using the beveled part of the ironing platform, you can easily iron the inside of your trousers.
Jeans:
Iron the waistband, top, and pockets as you would on trousers.
Next, the trousers are ironed on the ironing platform. The resulting creases from the sides are easily removed with the help of a foam cushion.
Pleated skirt:
Place the bottom of the skirt on the ironing platform, pinning the pleats. Give a little pressure. Remove the pins and press normally.
When using pins, it is recommended to cover the product with a cotton cloth to avoid damaging the heating platform.
Knitwear:
Rotate the belt around the ironing platform, stretching the fabric to avoid unwanted creases.
T-shirt:
Iron gradually on the ironing platform, starting from the sleeves.
T-shirts decorated with beads, sequins or iridescent embossing are ironed with decorations down towards the ironing platform to avoid being pressed into the heating platform.
Jackets, blazers, coats and raincoats:
Sleeves: To iron the sleeves, use the pillow by sliding it three times inside the sleeve.
Front and back: iron the front and back of the jacket similar to the shirt.
Lapel and collar. Place the sides diagonally on the ironing platform and iron in two steps. Give the sides and collar their original shape by folding them down until they cool (without smoothing out the folds).
Corduroy and Velvet:
The garments are usually ironed on the reverse side, using a slightly wetted overlay material.
Lower the central heating platform at mini pressure, without using automatic pressure to avoid crushing the material.
Thermal application:
Place the sample on the face of the material as shown in the diagram.
Secure it to the material.
Close the press completely. The sample will be transferred to the material. If necessary, leave the press closed until the beep.
Non-woven bonding:
Determine the ironing time following the instructions from the non-woven fabric manufacturer. Make sure the adhesive side is facing the material. Place a patch cloth over the sample to keep the heating platform clean.
Stickers:
Apply these labels following the manufacturer's recommendations. If the fixing time is more than 10 seconds, lift the right handle of the press as soon as you hear the warning beep so that the press does not automatically shut down and lower it again.
Ruffles, dresses.
Platform sleeves: Tuck the ruffles or folds neatly into the edge of the platform sleeves and iron them.
