The water heater does not need to be disconnected from the network at all !!! There is a small button on the switch - that's what you need to turn off so that the lights go out on the heater.
And you do not need to drain the water from the tank in the heater, so as to prevent rust and other things inside the tank. It's like in a heating system, in the summer there is a special solution in the pipes, they are not empty.

But when the heater is turned on to the network for operation, the first water is drained from the tank (which preserved the tank) and then the tank is filled with new water and let it heat up - you can use it.

You only need to connect and switch the water system itself on the riser - nothing more!
