Viani's hot chocolate from the movie Chocolate

cocoa beans 50 g
dark chocolate (70% cocoa) 20 g
cream 33% fat 150 ml
powdered sugar 1 tsp
chili pepper (ground) 1 tsp
water 250-270 ml

Cooking method

  • Chocolate (2000)
  • Director: Lasse Hallström
  • Cast: Juliette Binoche, Alfred Molina, Johnny Depp
  • Viani's hot chocolate from the movie Chocolate
  • 1. Pour cocoa beans with water at room temperature for 20-30 minutes. During this time, the skins will become soft enough and the beans will be easy to peel.
  • 2. Grind the peeled beans in a coffee grinder. Boil water, add freshly ground cocoa powder, boil for a couple of minutes, add bitter chocolate, chili pepper and 30-50 ml of cream (until the desired density of the drink).
  • 3. Beat the cream with powdered sugar. Place in each cup before serving 1-2 tsp.

The dish is designed for

3-4 servings.

Hot chocolate made from raw cocoa beans turns out to be very rich in taste. Especially spicy in combination with chili peppers. Whipped cream slightly softens the pungency of the drink and lends a silky texture.
Cook with love and bon appetit!

Delicious. Good food. Big job!!
I advise everyone to watch the film. A very interesting idea, and most importantly, not a bit tedious, which is appreciated in films most of all! And chocolate, many many ...
Marinochka! Just fascinated by your choice of film! Execution match! Above all praise !!!
Girls, THANKS !!!
Marina, I have coffee beans for the coffee machine. Will it go instead of fresh ones?
Natasha, Unfortunately not. Coffee beans and cocoa beans are different things.
Twist, a truly exquisite drink, which is not a pity to spend time and effort
Marish, great !!! Very beautifully executed and presented !!!
Thank you, Marina, I will look for cocoa beans
Twist, Are you sure about the amount of chili peppers? One teaspoon of plain pepper in a glass of liquid will be very hot, let alone chili. It will burn in your mouth so that you will not feel any other tastes.
Rita, thank you very much for your attention to the recipe! I was wrong about the amount of water. All ingredients are given for 3-4 servings, and liquid for one. Chili peppers make about a quarter teaspoon per serving. The pungency of the pepper is largely "extinguished" due to the properties of cocoa plus cream. The pepper (like any spice and seasoning in any recipe) can be adjusted to your liking.
