Ingredients

fresh fish, cod portioned pieces
salt taste
spices (lime pepper) taste
flour for breading
vegetable oil for frying fish

pickles
green onion
vegetable oil

Cooking method

  • Put the cod fish (in portions) into a bowl, sprinkle with salt to taste, let it salt a little, then drain the resulting liquid so that the fish is dry.
  • Preheat a frying pan with vegetable oil until hot.
  • Dip the pieces of fish in a little flour, put in a hot pan, fry until golden brown on both sides. Sprinkle some lime pepper on each side.
  • When the fish is well browned, cover the stewpan with a lid, but not tightly so that moisture does not accumulate inside, but only creates an environment for steaming the fish, and bring the fish to readiness, turn the pieces a couple of times if the pieces are thick.
  • When the fish is almost ready, add onions, cut thinly into half rings (rings), to the stewpan, add a little salt and simmer with the fish until tender.
  • Garnish:
  • - pickle red onions (thinly cut into strips), white aromatic vinegar, a pinch of salt.
  • - boil potatoes, cut into rings, put on a serving plate, add white stewed onions from a saucepan and some red pickled onions on top.
  • - add pickled cucumbers (thinly cut), green onions to the sauerkraut, season with a little vegetable oil.
  • Serving: put boiled potatoes, a handful of cabbage salad, ready-made hot cod fish on a portioned plate, sprinkle with stewed onions on top.

Everything is trite simple: fried cod fish and a side dish of potatoes and sauerkraut!

Recently, I rarely buy fish, because it does not quite match the quality. But when you manage to buy fresh, not frozen fish, it is a great success!
And then there is no need to embellish the fish with any sauces, seasonings - fresh fish is tasty by itself, just boiled or fried! The only seasoning for fish is freshly ground white pepper and lime, which add a pleasant taste and delicate aroma to the fish.
