Red cabbage with prunes (on the stove / slow cooker)

Ingredients

700 gr cabbage
10 medium prunes
salt
1.5 tbsp sugar
3-4 tbsp tomato paste + 3-4 tbsp water or a 240 g jar (net) chopped tomatoes in their own juice
3 cloves of garlic
1 pinch thyme
vegetable oil

Cooking method

  • This cabbage can be served as a side dish, or as an appetizer. I like it more cooled down and by itself.












  • Chop the cabbage very thinly, add salt, wrinkle a little with your hands and set aside.
  • Heat a few tablespoons of oil in a saucepan with a thick bottom, add tomato, finely chopped garlic, thyme and sugar. Bring to a boil and let it boil for 1-2 minutes. Put the cabbage in a saucepan and fry, stirring occasionally, under the lid for about 10 minutes. As soon as the cabbage shrinks a little, add the prunes.
  • If necessary, add a few tablespoons of water and oil, and simmer under a lid over low heat until the cabbage is cooked, stirring occasionally.

  • In a multicooker
  • Everything is done in the BAKING mode. We immediately set the time to 60 minutes. The rest of the sequence of actions is the same as when cooking on the stove.
