Calvados with apples, bourbon with corn, cognac with grapes, whiskey with grains. And all this is taught in oak barrels. But we do not have barrels, and a long time ago in the internet I read a faster way. We chop a small branch of an oak. We clean it from the bark and use a knife to cut thin shavings. We boil these shavings in a soda solution for 1 liter of water 1-2 tsp. soda. We rinse with clean cold water. Drain through a colander, dry on a towel. Then comes the drying stage in the oven. Dry at low temperature with a slightly open oven. The chips acquire a characteristic brown color. We put it in cans, fill it with moonshine, roll it up - after 2-3 months, a divine drink is obtained. We have Isabella grapes - moonshine smells of isabella and it turns out a very tasty cognac. I personally didn't like bourbon - the smell of corn just drove me crazy. But I respect Calvados very much. And now it is made of isabella braga. By the way, the quality of the moonshine (namely the sour smell) is impaired by the unmeasured amount of baker's yeast. We make home brew at wine shops.
