Note

Tapas (Spanish tapas, plural, from the word tapa - cover) - in Spain, any snack served in a bar with beer or wine. Historically, it was customary to put a snack (a piece of bread or ham) on a served glass or jug of wine, protecting it from flies and dust. But when, according to the decree of King Alfonso X of Castile, it was ordered that in any tavern, in addition to wine, a free snack should be served to his soldiers, so that the soldiers did not get drunk unnecessarily, savvy innkeepers began to make the portions of these free dishes as small as possible. Since then, the tradition of such appetizer dishes has been developed.
Currently, tapas are nuts, chips, olives, and independent dishes (for example, pork, chicken, vegetables or seafood kebabs) are a variety of different hot and cold snacks.
A common entertainment for the Spaniards is to move from bar to bar, drinking a glass of wine or beer in each and enjoying tapas, the bar's signature snack.
