Prince William's Cake

Ingredients

Butter shortbread cookies, for example "Jubilee" about 360g (I had 2 packs of 180g each)
Raisins 100g
Dried cherries or cranberries, I didn't have such good, replaced with colored candied fruits 100g
Hazelnuts 50g
Sunflower seeds 50g
Butter 100g
Bitter chocolate 70% cocoa 200g
Dried meat 300g
Cognac or brandy 4-5 st. l.

Cooking method

  • First, a lyrical digression. According to unverified information I have, this cake or dessert was a favorite treat of Prince William as a child.
  • In the USSR, something similar was called "sweet sausage" or "pioneer cake". There is such a recipe on the forum, but this one is still different.
  • In Estonia, such a dessert is called "kirjukoer", that is, a motley dog.
  • Here I finish the lyrical digression and move on to the preparation.
  • Soak raisins and dried cherries (or cranberries) in cognac for a couple of hours. I was only able to do it for an hour, but I had a fairly fresh raisin so it was enough.
  • Grind cookies and mix with soaked raisins and cherries (cranberries or candied fruits), add chopped nuts and seeds.
  • Melt butter and half the chocolate in a saucepan, add condensed milk. Do not eat.
  • Pour the mixture over the cookies and mix thoroughly (but without fanaticism).
  • Place the mixture in an oblong cake pan, covered with baking paper. I had a 30 cm brick.
  • Put in the refrigerator overnight. Keep no one near the refrigerator.
  • In the morning, making sure that the mold is still in the refrigerator, remove the cake from the mold and pour over the melted remaining chocolate.
  • Decorate as desired. Originally with berry chips and cherries. In the absence of these, I sprinkled them with coconut.
  • And driving away the hungry and suffering, put, but for a very short time in the refrigerator.
  • Then cut into pieces and enjoy the dessert.
  • Bon Appetit.

yummy incredible!
in my childhood it was called a sausage, as it was wrapped in polyethylene and tied on 2 sides.
I only remember what they put in the freezer.
now I don't cook it, because I will eat it in a moment, and the colorium content is high.

in my childhood it was called sausage,
no, I think it tastes completely different. More intense. There are so many ingredients ... In short, you have to do it, especially since it is not confused.

Precisely, a recipe from childhood. Only in this there are much more ingredients and they are more expensive: it is immediately visible to the princes. There was no chocolate in the Soviet sausage. Cocoa was put in, butter and cookies were always there, and the rest was put in according to the availability of food.

Did it!
I told my husband to buy 100g of hazelnuts, 50g of seeds. And I had to write, because I bought both for 50g. Everything else is strictly according to the recipe. I put it in the refrigerator last night, tried it for breakfast today, it seemed very sweet. But for dinner, the cake acquired the proper taste, I think so. Very tasty!
The dried cranberries are surprisingly sweet

Delicious recipe! And not only from the seventies, but even from the 60s, we made such a "sausage" in childhood with my brother, oh, it was delicious! The author in the photo is exactly our delicacy from childhood.
Only here is a really more refined recipe, there are more ingredients, I will definitely try.

With what can is it better to replace alcohol?
if I did a substitute, it would only be for liquor: sheridan go baileys. Well, I like their taste in pastry.
And without alcohol, it seems to me, there will be well-mashed Jubilee cookies with nuts and condensed milk.I think so

How everything is in time! Just yesterday we bought 2 packs of "Jubilee" cookies ...
Among other things, in the fridge was found condensed milk, butter and 2/3 of the bar of chocolate with almonds that nobody liked. Of course, it's not quite according to the recipe, but I soaked the raisins in cognac - this is the main thing!
I have already mixed everything, put it in the form and put it in the freezer for now.
I think the output will still be much tastier than the original product.
Thanks for the recipe!

P. S. some recommendations were especially useful. My husband came, and after learning that I had just disposed of a bad cookie, he rushed to the refrigerator. Flipped everything, hoping to "start trying". I didn't know about the freezer. I am not giving out "passwords and accounts" yet ...

Ikra, well hidden

Anniversary cookies, for example. I generally did from the local Prince William's Cakeseems like a jubilee Prince William's Cake

I, too, not quite "Jubilee". Now our good old confectionery factories, alas, are dissolving into huge holdings, "giving" them their brands. And in return we get absolutely not what we expect. Yesterday we bought a novelty under the Yubileinoe brand - with berries and dried fruits. Made, of course, somewhere ... far from Moscow. But that's not even the point, because there is simply nothing to do with any "Yubileiny". It's a pity, I threw away the wrapper, probably according to the TU ... The main thing is that the dried fruits inside are so hard that you can't chew.
I hope the magic of condensed milk with chocolate and raisins with cognac will work.
Ikra
He found it all the same. And slightly "leveled". I had to make them take a picture:

The cookie is saved and rehabilitated! Everything is very delicious. Hope it tastes better tomorrow.

Thanks for the recipe! deliciously incredible! seemingly simple "chocolate sausage" turns into an exquisite dessert thanks to this soaking of dried fruits in cognac. I had raisins in rum for a long time already, but added cherries, poured cognac, and left overnight. and the rest according to the recipe - hazelnuts, seeds. however, the biscuits were unknown shortbread, crumbled, waiting for disposal for a long time. it turned out absolutely magically beat myself on the hands, so as not to stretch

Thank you so much for the recipe, this is the best version of this dessert! and the name - motley dog - I really liked

bad photo, but at least some

Now I do this thing about 3 times a week. One for mom, one for work, and one home.
And here's a strange feature: at work, EVERYONE (!) Is losing weight and no one (!) Eats sweet. Like - they don't even like it at all! While I go to pour water into the kettle, half of it evaporates somewhere I come back, everyone is very innocent, and they are losing weight again

Already probably late, but it may still come in handy. When I need to soak dried fruits, but you can't use alcohol, I soak in very strong tea, preferably with bergamot.

Gael, thanks for the advice, next time I'll try. I soaked dried fruits in freshly squeezed orange juice, it turned out delicious

nakapustina, Thank you! I'll try, interesting.

Delicious cake !!!!!!!! Not like a chocolate sausage, but more noble. I did everything with the brandy according to the recipe. Worthy of a king. Thanks, I will do more

What a great recipe! When I need to soak it in alcohol and I need it, soaked, right now, I put it in the microwave for a minute and, as if it had stood for a day, it was absorbed.
