Cervical spondylosis

Mcooker: best recipes About health

Cervical spondylosisTumor spondylitis is a pathological condition associated with the progression of age due to wear of the vertebral element and intervertebral discs in the cervical region. A similar condition is observed in 85% of patients in the age group over 60 years old, although most of them do not have characteristic symptoms.

What is the cause of cervical spondyloarthritis?

The spine is very flexible and its discs are subject to significant stress. At a certain period of time, damage to the annulus fibrosus occurs in the discs and they become dehydrated and thinner. This can cause friction between the vertebrae, accompanied by painful complaints. Spines, which are shaped like a small beak, can form along the ribs of the vertebrae. Spines can compress nearby nerves and cause painful complaints.

What are the symptoms?

Many patients with cervical spondylosis are asymptomatic. One of the most common complaints is cervical pain. It can spread to the shoulder, arm and fingers. It can increase in intensity in any of the following situations:

- sitting or standing position

- sneezing and cough

- turns the neck sideways.

 Cervical spondylosisOther prominent symptoms are:

- muscle weakness, which causes difficulty in raising the arms over the shoulders

- pain in the back of the head

- tingling sensation in the hands

- heaviness in the neck.

To diagnose cervical spondylosis, other possible conditions such as fibromyalgia must be ruled out. The physician should evaluate the ability to perform movements in the patient's neck area and assess if there is any damage to muscles or nerves.

What treatment is carried out?

Physiotherapy may be prescribed by your doctor to help increase neck mobility and strengthen muscles. In some cases, muscle relaxants such as cyclobenzaprine may be prescribed to treat spasms. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs can be used to relieve pain. If the condition is severe and the prescribed therapy is not carried out, then surgery may be performed to remove the thorns.
