Pickled watermelon
Category: Blanks
Ingredients
water 1 l
salt 1 tbsp. l.
sugar 2 tbsp. l.
vinegar 9% 1 tbsp. l.
aspirin 2 tab.
garlic 1-2 h.
watermelon
dill, parsley several. twigs
Cooking method

If the watermelon is sluggish, unsweetened or a little underripe, then so that it is not offensive, you can close it in jars.
Autumn watermelons are often just that. Something they already lack. By the way, sugar watermelons are not very suitable for pickling - they "crumble" a lot.
Let's prepare the watermelon. Cut the watermelon into pieces, cut off the green skin, leave a thin white layer (for the strength of the piece), remove the seeds.
Requires 3 fillings without sterilization.
Put several branches of dill and parsley, 1-2 cloves of garlic in clean jars, fill as tightly as possible with slices of watermelon (it will settle after pouring).
Pour boiling water over the filled jars, cover with lids and hold for 15 minutes. Then drain the water from the cans into a saucepan, boil it again, pour the watermelons in the cans and hold the second time for 15 minutes.
Pour the water from the cans into the pan for 3 times,
cook MARINADE:
Add the required amount of salt, sugar, vinegar to 1 liter of water drained from cans. aspirin.
Bring the marinade to a boil (add vinegar and aspirin last). Pour watermelons, close the lids tightly and wrap well until they cool completely.

Note
I want to say that I am a big opponent of canned aspirin, I use it only in this recipe. True, I put less than 1.5 tab. for 1 liter.
Watermelon turns out to be unusually tasty and aromatic.
You can close it in jars of any size, since the marinade is designed for the amount of liquid, and not for the liter of cans.
My advice. To determine how much liquid will be in the last pour, I pour the liquid after the second pour into a "measuring" 1 liter pan. From it into a saucepan where I cook the marinade. Then I already know for sure the amount of marinade.
mgla
Elenka69, I was interested in the recipe, I never ate a watermelon with the addition of garlic, somehow it never even occurred to me to try adding it. In the season I will definitely try
But the presence of aspirin surprised me. In the way described in the recipe, I even roll pickled cucumbers into 3-liter jars (without aspirin). They are so cute. And with watermelon, what will happen without aspirin?
kava
If I am not mistaken, aspirin plays the role of a preservative. Well, so that harmful organisms in the bank do not rage and the lid is not ripped out
Elenka
mgla, absolutely right kava... aspirin acts as a preservative.
I also close cucumbers this way and tomatoes too. But watermelon is a specific product. If you have the opportunity to provide this canned food with a cool stay, then it may be worth it without aspirin.
And there is also very little vinegar, the taste is harmonious for salt-sugar-acid. If you add more vinegar, you can do without aspirin. Perhaps the taste will lose from this.
I am not a supporter of aspirin. but these watermelons do not eat much and not often. I don't see much harm.
And you have to choose.

I wish I could collect my thoughts and make such a miracle! I want to do it all for several years now, but it's scary to do it alone - usually it doesn't work ??

But take it and do it! It is not scary or difficult at all!
You don't have to do a lot at once. Try to make from 1 watermelon, put the pieces in small jars.
Particularly successful are not quite ripe or sluggish watermelons, usually you don't want to eat them - there is a reason to preserve them.
Good luck to you!

Elenka, closed the tasteless watermelon today. I'm waiting for winter now

Irishk @, do not forget to share your impressions.

I'm lazy, I promise!

Elenka, Helen, watermelons turned out to be just a fairy tale. Yesterday I opened a jar to try it, well, everyone liked it very much. They knew how to jar at a time.
Elenka
Irishk @, I am so pleased that I liked the watermelons!
I also opened - delicious!
