I always cook lentils, peas and beans in the stewing mode. I pre-soak so as not to cook for a long time.

And the lentils in my slow cooker were foaming and (foam) climbed out through the valve. How can this be explained? Product specifics (peas, lentils, beans - they behave about the same) or the cooking program? Maybe you had to turn it on for extinguishing? Who knows ... You need to experiment.

I always rinse very thoroughly, soak in cold water for 30 minutes and rinse again. There is a lot of protein in legumes.

first boil the peas and then add everything else - we love that the peas are completely boiled, and how the peas will boil - usually in a saucepan the foam rises in huge quantities, but in a cartoon how?

Everything will be fine. If you like boiled peas, then put them immediately, along with all the products. You do not need to soak the peas, and it will boil well.
Aksania
Admin but tell me how much then you need to cook - an hour and a half? and what about the foam? will there be foam or not? otherwise, at first I thought that there could be no foam in the cartoon, but after reading the forums I realized that it can foam, people also run away milk, for example, but from the peas there will be a foam cap
Admin

Set the time for insurance for 2.5 hours, during the cooking process you will try and see, but you can turn it off earlier when it’s ready.
He will not foam, in any case I have no problems. The multicooker has a different cooking mode, the water does not boil much and does not give such a frothy effect as in a regular saucepan.

Start cooking, you will see for yourself. You can always interfere with the process and stir with a spoon.

If green split peas, then you can cook immediately, 1.5 hours for stewing.
I always soak yellow peas overnight, rinse very well (there will be no foam), cook porridge in the mode, and then add everything for the soup and stew for 1.5 hours.
You can immediately put it as Admin advises, but there is a chance that the peas will turn out to be old and will not boil down to puree. I'm cheating.
Aksania
Lika thanks for the advice, I just thought to soak for the night and then boil the peas first, only I thought in stewing mode, and then add everything else to the peas

Admin You are absolutely right, my eyes are afraid my mother and I are cooking, she sits at home with her daughter and I work, so my main task is to make my mother's work easier, and I just rest my soul on the weekend, when I conjure over a cartoon, we are already slowly getting used to it, and Mom already approached her herself, she likes it, although she is afraid of all kinds of equipment, I remember that she did not want to use the combine for two years, but now she is a bastard
Thanks everyone !!!

I want to make this dish based on chili:
boil red beans and brown lentils (which still need to be disposed of) - you can not quite completely;
stew them with bell peppers, tomatoes, a little hot pepper, garlic and spices according to your mood.

I used to do this (on the stove), but I took the beans from the jar. And recently I tried it myself - it is much tastier!

Need some advice on how to cook legumes. Soaked them in the morning, 1 measuring cup with 2 cups of water.
Buckwheat mode? "Baking" but with water?
If they digest, it's not scary, you can eat the broken ones. Worse if they are undercooked.

I am a beginner with the cartoon, while I only cooked barley in it exactly according to the instructions, and then stewed it with frozen vegetables and mushrooms.
And now she has set the bread and is baking.
Yes, my multicooker is 2.5 liters.

Thank you in advance!
Admin
Cook in a multicooker in the Quenching mode - the time depends on the hardness of the product.

Beans are boiled (depending on the variety) for 1-3 hours - you can try in the process.
When cooking, it is better to immediately add an unpeeled head of garlic to 1.5 cups of beans, salt and herbs for legumes. It will turn out delicious.

Lentils are cooked much faster - 15-25 minutes is enough, and you also need to try during the cooking process.
I cooked it with vegetables in the Baking mode, so the whole dish was ready in 30 minutes.

Therefore, you will probably have to cook these cereals in two passes and separately, so as not to get mashed potatoes from lentils, and then combine them together.

The beans are soaked for 24 hours.
You need to cook at the rate of 1 cup of beans - 5 cups of water.
I add less water.

You do not need to soak lentils, and it boils very well and quickly.
For a glass of lentils, 3 glasses of water will be enough.

Admin, thanks a lot.
you cooked lentils for sure brown, not red? Red is cooked in mashed potatoes in 15 minutes, and brown is firmer.
write that soak overnight and cook for 40-60 minutes ...
Admin
I have not read what is written on another site.

I love lentils and cook them very often, of any color and size, and even make an assorted variety of them.

Therefore, I know firsthand how to cook lentils, but based on my own experience.

And then, you have the right to choose - which way to use and evaluate which one you like best.

Good luck!

Need some advice on how to cook legumes.
Maybe I’m already late with advice, but I don’t like to soak beans (usually there is no time). Usually I cook on the stove like this, I poured it with cold water (it is possible in the water that has not been soaked for long), bring to a boil - drain this water! (I don’t remember exactly why I’m doing this, but I read somewhere that it’s better), then pour water (again cold), a little, it boils - add half a glass of cold water and so on 3 times, then simmer over low heat and after half an hour add what you like, you can just add salt (if for a salad, for example, or a dry side dish), you can use tomatoes, peppers, I like smoked meats in combination (a piece of smoked ribs, or bacon, you can drip liquid smoke) and bring to readiness.
For multi Admin, I painted it very well, I wrote only so that someone, like me, will have no time to soak for a day, and you can add cold water in the stewing mode several times if the beans are hard
outside flo
in general, prepared. I tell anyone interested.

The legumes were soaked for almost a day, while I was getting ready and waiting for answers here (my son is still sick now, he lives in his arms in general, by the way ...)
divided them (almost felt like a Cinderella), cooked them separately on "stewing".
lentils cooked perfectly in 20 minutes.
the beans were cooked for 1 hour + 30 minutes, and yet they were hard in the final. I had to cook all 2 hours without being lazy.
I cooked the beans with a clove of garlic, but it didn't give much.

then I put lentils, beans, peeled and finely chopped tomatoes, 2 frozen mixtures: just sweet peppers and "gyuvech" (there are peppers with tomatoes, onions, zucchini and something else ...); more garlic crushed with a crusher, spices and a little fresh red hot pepper (I asked my husband to cut it so as not to inadvertently burn the child later)
Levanula a little olive oil and put it on "stewing" again for 1 hour.

it turned out to be a stew rather than a chili. I added ketchup to the plate - it looks more like chili.
very spicy, ate with bread, and my husband - with rice.
I got a lot of liquid from tomatoes and peppers, just like soup, but I put myself one thick.
and the decoction of the beans, by the way, was kept for the soup. from the lentils poured, but probably in vain.

conclusions:
- cook beans longer.
- put more tomatoes, don't be greedy and buy Pomi tomato paste made from normal sweet tomatoes.
- there are still fewer peppers.
- next time do not forget the "liquid smoke" and probably a little fried onions.
- and the lentils are still delicious, if you cook them and season them correctly next time I will try them without soaking.
- it is better to eat such dishes with rice or other side dish. spicy or very salty with unleavened rice is very tasty, the Japanese know what they are doing (the Japanese eat rice without everything, completely unleavened and round, I also love it very much, but not long)

Yes, I also cooked rice in a slow cooker, according to the instructions ("milk porridge"). cooked perfectly, but why did it take so long? something in the region of an hour ... on the stove for 20 minutes the same, only it burns a little, and you need to watch it until it boils ...
Pakat
mish , you can put a piece of butter and tomato paste, or ketchup, it will be delicious without meat, just fry the vegetables slightly ...

is not a fact. beans are also of different varieties. we sell one on the market and one that even without soaking for an hour and a half or two is cooked. and if you soak it overnight, then 40 minutes - 1 hour and it is completely boiled
Alco
Please tell me which mode is better to cook beans? Extinguishing? And how long approximately?
Hairpin
1. On extinguishing;
2. The time depends on the degree of soaking and the brand of beans. Start at three o'clock. That is, set the timer for six hours, and after three hours you start trying it.
jelen
to speed up the process of boiling legumes, add half a teaspoon of sugar and cook on the "buckwheat" mode until tender

Wonderful recipes! Thank you very much! Do you cook anything else from lentils?
Admin

egeomar, thanks Yes, I cook all the time, but I don't post everything on the forum

Try this recipe again https://Mcooker-enn.tomathouse.com/index.php@option=com_smf&topic=90959.0, but instead of mung, put light yellow or red lentils. Yes, you can add green.

Simmer until cooked in Stew mode.
First fry the meat (as in the recipe) in the Baking mode.

Bon Appetit

Oh, thank you so much! A very interesting option, I'll try it too. And I hope that someday you will get your hands on laying out more lentil recipes!
thanks again

Peas are soaked not only to be softer. The main reason for soaking peas is to avoid intestinal flatulence.
Natalia 1108
Tell me, please, if peas do not boil on gas (apparently such a variety), will it boil in a multicooker or not?

Unlikely Natul ... No matter how much I cook peas in a slow cooker, they remain intact, but boiled with all this at 100% !!! My people love puree soup, so after boiling it, either with a crush or a blender, I bring it to condition ...
Crochet
Natul, on my stove it usually boils "into smoke", I use Mistralpeas.

And besides stewing, can you cook something else? I read on a forum somewhere that if there is a multi-cook, it is better on it. I just don't remember where I saw it. Someone also wrote about Redmond that he cooks on one program so that the peas do not boil over, and on the other, so that the porridge turns out.
tetutsiol
We tried to cook beans on our Redmond. In principle, it comes out great, does not boil over. Maybe some other models have something wrong, but my (RMC-250) is fine, there are no shortcomings.
OkSUNa
In the Redmond multicooker pressure cookers I saw the "legumes" mode (apparently, intended just for such products). How is he in action?) Does everything really boil down quickly?)

Yes. In a pressure cooker Redmond 4507 - in an hour you get mashed potatoes, and from any peas.
OkSUNa
DuNika, is it only at 4507? Or, regardless of the model of their multicooker-pressure cookers, on such a program, peas boil so quickly? And, in general, it's great) With pea soup, you don't have to suffer for several hours in a row)
DuNika
Yes, it cooks well in any pressure cooker. I just have 4507.
