Ingredients

butter at room temperature 50 g
egg 2 pcs
pressed yeast 30 g
wheat flour, I have 1c 500 g
milk 250 ml
salt 1 tsp
schnapps (vodka) 2 tbsp
sugar 40 g

Cooking method

  • Vögalan is made from yeast dough, served with applesauce for coffee. The recipe came from Carinthia (German Kärnten, Bav. Kärntn, Slovenian. Koroška) - a federal state in the south of Austria, bordered by Tyrol in the west, Salzburg in the north and Styria in the north-east. In the south, Carinthia borders on Italy and Slovenia. The capital and largest city is Klagenfurt.

  • We knead the yeast dough. Heat milk with sugar, dissolve yeast in it. Stir in butter, eggs, flour, salt and schnapps. This is how only the kneaded dough looks like:
