Rothenburg snowballs (Rothenburger Schneeballchen)

Ingredients

Wheat flour 1.5 - 2 stacks
Egg 1 PC.
Yolks 2 pcs.
Sour cream 2 tbsp. l.
Plum schnapps 1 tbsp. l.
Powdered sugar 2-3 st. l.
Salt pinch
Vanilla sugar 1 tsp
Powdered sugar for sprinkling
Rast. butter or melted lard for deep fat

Cooking method

  • The Bavarian city of Rothenburg an der Tauber is a famous medieval monument, and the inhabitants of this city have a famous traditional delicacy - "snowballs" (Schneebällchen), for which the Friedl cafe, located on the market square of Rothenburg, is especially famous.
  • Beat the egg with yolks with salt, powdered sugar and vanilla sugar, add sour cream, schnapps (I, may the Rothenburgers forgive me, replaced it with "Rowan on cognac"), and, kneading, add flour to make a dense but elastic dough, not sticky to hands.
  • Rothenburg snowballs (Rothenburger Schneeballchen)
  • Wrap the dough in foil and send it to the refrigerator to rest, preferably overnight. After that, cutting off small pieces from the dough, roll them into thin layers and cut them into thin, noodle-like strips.
  • Rothenburg snowballs (Rothenburger Schneeballchen)
  • of which "glomeruli" are formed a little smaller than a walnut, in the center of which the filling is placed at will:

  • And it is not at all necessary to mold snowballs perfectly round - with further deep-fried baking in a metal mold specially sold for them, they will become as they should! I used the meatball tongs for this. Fry the blanks until golden brown, remove excess fat on a paper towel and sprinkle with a lot of powdered sugar!

Laris, so cool !!!! How to fry them? Are the tongs for 1 piece? Or can you fry a certain amount at the same time?
dopleta
Yes, Sasha, you have to fry one by one - unfortunately, I have only one tong. I put the ball in tongs and, immersing them in deep fat, fry until tender.

That's so beautiful!
Larissa, thanks for your hard work. During the competition, I learned so much about German dishes and the history of Germany. And very, very much from you. I hope there is also a lot of interesting things - ahead, the competition does not end today, fortunately.

Oh girls, if you want to laugh, if you want to - no .. when I saw Larisen's recipe, my first thought was: "So, so, what special devices are needed to prepare this dish?" ... .. I'm already afraid to look into her kitchen ... I know that each recipe deserves special attention, but looking in, reading and then running for another device for cooking is already crazy. At home, I'm afraid to say that in order to cook this or that I still need to buy something from the technique - my husband looks askance ...

It's not the same for everybody, Check mark ! I don’t know about the others, but I feel that for a few more months my fuse will not be enough for all my interest and love for cooking. There are so many time-consuming things around that have to be relegated to the background. And thank you very much for your attention to my recipes and the kind words with which you accompany them!

"So, so, what special devices are needed to prepare this dish?"
Anya, it's not me here who come up with such recipes! I saw this one and began to scratch a turnip - how to implement it, since they have special forms, but we do not? And the way out - here it is! And, by the way, you gave me the idea - you have to try it in this shop!
Sindi
Cool recipe! Immediately inspired memories of the fabulous Rothenburg ... local balls are really very tasty, they remind our brushwood

dopleta, so my snowballs have brothers))) really small .... they are like 8-10cm in diameter, and tongs are sold 9cm ...
dopleta
Sorry, Nata, do not understand - have you already exhibited? Poke me quickly! It seems that I checked everything ...
NataliARH

All, Natasha, I saw and, of course, I will remove my recipe from the competition. Although there are differences, they are insignificant to leave him. Only, listen, there is a little remark to yours. The rules for posting photos in the Gallery say - use only copyright ones, from the Internet you cannot. You can use those German photos below in the comments to the recipe as additional information.
NataliARH
Larissa, see for yourself, I don't mind! But about the photo from the Internet .... that is, you can't use it at all? some users also have a photo for clarity in the recipes .... it turns out, for example, in the "spezle" recipe, I cannot use a photo of a special press / grater for clarity .... just the following message?
dopleta
It turns out that way. Look - in the first line when uploading a photo it is written in red that only author's photos are allowed to be uploaded, pictures from the Internet will be deleted! I have already asked the admins to delete my recipe.
CheBuRashGO
Very nice! As a person who loves horror movies, it reminds me of little brains!
I really liked the appearance.
With a bit of imagination, this dish will be a Halloween decoration!
And now. dear guests taste - sweet brains of little fairies! Amazingly shielding! :-)
It's a pity I won't have time to do it.
Neighbor thanks for the idea :-)

: girl_cray1: I let you know: after these words of yours, I copied it to "Word".

In general, you can try to roll out the dough on a noodle cutter and cut it into 1 cm wide.
Do you remember the "meatballs" in your recipe? https://Mcooker-enn.tomathouse.com/in...109.0
What do you think - will it go?
dopleta
Well, of course you can! I wanted to do this here too, but the manual noodle cutters were close at hand, and I had to climb onto the rack to get the typewriter.
Svettika
Larissa, why delete! The idea may be the same, but there are discrepancies in the composition - one plum schnapps is worth something, in preparation - you can see how you tenderly swaddled the nuts, in size - your masyanka. Leave the recipe! Definitely!
NataliARH, I have nothing against your recipe!

To me, as a person who loves horror movies, reminds me of little brains!
CheBuRashGO, however, our perception is the same!
dopleta
Thank you, Svetochka, but I in the "report a bug" sent yesterday my request for removal to the admins, and there they will decide.
gala10
How is it to delete? The composition is different. Here - with the history of the creation of the dish.
The recipes are different, the presentation is different, even the names are different.
I think both of these recipes are eligible for the competition.
