I have 10 mm, I often use it, especially I cut potatoes for frying. 7 mm personally seems to me too small for frying, but in general everyone has different tastes.
MariV
Zubastik,
if possible, about the exact model of your slicer - I’ll hardly buy it for the house, but we need it in the autumn-winter period to cut bread, sausage, cheese - in my free time, 2 times a week I go to help the nuns feed the homeless - they come up to 200 a day man, cut bread and sausage with a knife - then wava to handles!
Freken Bock
And I use 10mm inserts more often than 7
Zubastik
MariV, Blimey! How generously you spend your free time!
I have a slicer like this 🔗 I am very pleased with her, I recommend! She does not have a tray for ready-made products, I immediately substitute the plate.
If for very large volumes, then of course it is better to buy a model with an inclined body of the type 🔗 it will be much more convenient for her to cut large portions of food, and there is a table for ready-made cutting. But of course it costs twice as much.

For reviews about the insert 10mm. Thank you all, convinced that you still need to buy!

I sometimes bring home food there, and unnecessary clothes - everything is gratefully sorted out.
About safety - safe enough, is there some kind of hand protection?
There were cases with a grater - a salad with meat! This is when I forgot to take the holder.
Zubastik
MariV, I also often get hurt with a grater, sometimes too lazy to hold the holder, sometimes it's just uncomfortable. There is a holder in the slicer, by which you push and the product is cut. It simultaneously presses the product against the knife. To turn it on, there is also a protection mechanism - you must press two buttons simultaneously. I think it's very difficult to get hurt here.

Several months ago I bought a Bosch 6200 slicer, I thought it would be useless! It was not there !!! Berner cabbage is no longer cut at all. In terms of the simplicity of the process and the quality of the output, the slicer has no equal. Berner no longer cuts circles of any vegetables, it is convenient to select the desired thickness on the slicer as needed for this particular dish.
Did I understand correctly that you can also cut raw vegetables with a slicer? For some reason I thought that only cheese, sausages, bread? For a long time, drooling on her, stops only the presence of good knives, and small amounts of cooking. But if she chops the cabbage!?! Buy directly
Zubastik
I took it for cabbage! Because the Berner grater is a good thing - but it's not as convenient for me to chop cabbage on it as I would like. And then you adjust the thickness by millimeters, cuts everything to the limit! Very comfortably!
Vegetables, of course, also cuts everything, in general, everything that is cut - cuts everything! Boiled potatoes in their uniforms are crumpled - and the rest seems to be all.

and I just have a slicer lying around idle, which cost more than a thousand. They bought it a long time ago, first they cut the sausage, and then they abandoned it, since no one wants to disassemble and wash it later
I must try to use for vegetables

Nibbler, and how she cuts the cabbage into strips. in pieces. Should the head of cabbage be cut into quarters, into halves?

Girls help me figure it out
I live in Israel, I searched for a long time and finally found this grater.
I went to buy yesterday - it turned out that there are V10 and V3 in stock.
V10 - what I understand is beautiful but very good. expensive
And the V3 - affordable, but I didn't see this on the Berner website - looks like a Trend, but why is there no name on the label? And the color confused me - not pure white - but with yellowness. Is this how it should be?
If anyone knows, tell me - what is this V3 model after all?
Or maybe someone saw this miracle in Israel, well, I really want to buy
shuska
Girls who have a grater, tell me, please. Now I choose a grater with nozzles. Stopped at Vip-4. Now the question is tormenting: what to get to her with a Twin grater or a Pizza grater? I would like to be able to grate small and large shavings (as in ordinary Sovdepov graters). "Kashi" I do not need. But buying 2 graters is expensive. Please tell me How does Twin rub on both sides?
Qween
shuska , I have both. None of the two graters rubs like a Soviet one.
shuska

Which one would you recommend to choose? Which one do you use more and for what?
Qween
Twin - on one side is gruel, and on the other - very small chips.
Pizza grater - larger than the usual Soviet one, resembles wide ribbons.
I use pizza grater more often.
When I bought Berner, I was sure that I would not use the old metal float. But, not a single fashionable thing could replace my old lady. For example, herring under a fur coat is prepared only using an old grater.
shuska
qween, thanks for the answer. I'm thinking of going to the store tomorrow. I really want to take something with me and ask them to talk at least once, and then I’ll decide.
Qween
shuska, "teranut", most likely, will not be allowed. Where I bought, all the graters are sealed in bags. And there are no testers.
If you have small children, then Twin comes in handy.
And if there are no kids, then take the Greater. You, anyway, will buy other graters over time. So, everyone's turn will come.
It's very good to have a trough and a multibox, although at first glance it seems like a waste of money.
Freken Bock
shuska , in your department store on the street. Pushkin is easy to rub! It is very correct to try it yourself. Only a special grater, it caused tremors in my knees for six months, very sharp! On my own I will add that on the VIP-4 you can get something that resembles chips from a regular grater, such noodles, width 3.5 - 7 mm (depending on the insert), thickness approx. 1 - 1.5 mm, length - what you want! I don't explain it clearly, right? Come to a department store, there is a very good sales assistant.
And I completely agree with qween, an ordinary grater is still needed. In the old days, I made my husband sharpen the edges of her holes to make it easier to cut. He did it with such a thin round natfil (or a file?), It turned out very well.
Qween
Freken Bock Do you happen to know if Berner has good pepper grinders?
Qween
I'm also only in the photo. But today I made an order for "my" company, asked about the pepper mill, and they are there. I'll run for a cake today, and I want to buy a pepper mill.
I have nothing to compare with, I have only one mill. It is old and very good.
But one is not enough for me, I still need it for other spices.
shuska
qween, Freken Bock, thanks for the info. Tomorrow I'm going to Pushkinskaya to see Tanya. Was there last weekend, looking closely and arranged for tomorrow (there was no Twin). There really are sample graters, but the consultants themselves have not been rubbing for a long time (they say that the department store's management has banned it). But I will ask Tanya, maybe he will give "teranut".I understand that you just have to buy this grater and you will not stop. Still want something. At first I thought about the main set. After the 1st visit to Pushkinskaya, I wanted Vip4 + trough + 10mm + Twin (or Greater?) + Vegetable peeler (the girls on the forum praised her strongly, although I have a good old Soviet department). After studying the topic "Grater Berner" I wanted another 1.6 grater (but it seems that there is no one for VIP), Twin-Greater (the remaining unselected for the first time) and boxing (well, where to store additional nozzles? The main ones in Vipe-4 are attached to the back of the grater ). Well. And what else I want after the 2nd visit to the department store, God knows. But this is quite expensive. By the way, when buying for 500 UAH. a discount is given, so it might be worth "dialing" this amount ...
Freken Bock, where Teskoma's store will now write in a personal.

Girls, I want to share my way of storing inserts for a grater. They are very sharp, so this is relevant in my opinion. I gave up the multibox, as it takes up space on the table and only holds a standard set of inserts. I wanted a GLASS FOR STORING INSERTS, but it was not available then. If you use the grater often, then it is not very convenient to store the attachments on the back of the grater itself (VIP-4). I bought two ordinary plastic containers that were cheap, short and fit in shape and size. I take 2 nozzles with the prongs to each other, between them I put two crumpled paper towels so that the prongs do not cut the plastic, I put them in a container, I close the lid. And the third "toothy" is just lonely in another container, closed with a lid, safe. The containers are on top of each other, the trough is on them, everything is in the closet.

I already ran away and bought a Berner mill. I liked it because it has stone millstones and the grinding level is regulated. The workmanship is good.

So I got sick with this grater, and I just want to buy something extra
Freken Bock
I also wanted to buy something else from Berner. Last wishes are a vegetable peeler and a waffle grater. And more to the point, I'm thinking, why? I have all these knives (I really love them), but what should I do with a waffle grater? ...

waffle grater what to do? ...

Here, I'm just ripening for a waffle. It can be very beautiful to cut potatoes and bake in the oven, carrots for decorating jellied meat and aspic, vegetables for stewing (then put on top of rice)) and much more, it is more for decoration
Mams
And if you cut cucumbers on a waffle grater, and just put them in a beautiful salad bowl ... they will be eaten just like that, without any sauce-mayonnaise for their beauty. there are radishes, and carrots ... By the way, it is not necessary to make it completely waffle, that is, it can be done just in waves, also beautiful.

And the same carrots, in some aspic ...
Mueslik
So I want a waffle - just for my own pleasure from a beautiful cut and I also want for Korean carrots or pizza, or both ...
and something else and more

Hurrah! Today I bought myself a gift for DR - a grater. As a result, I stopped at VIP-4 + trough (small) + insert 10 mm + grater Twin + vegetable peeler 5in1. The whole set cost UAH 428. with discount. I think it's okay. The rest will already be looked at along the way. I have already tried the grater, vegetable peeler, Twin grater. I tried to make potato chips. To do this, I used a nozzle, standard for VIP-4, in positions 1 and 2. At the same time, the thickness of the potato circles in position 1 was quite large, and the result was rather deep-fried potatoes. And on 2-ke turned out to be very thin circles. Basically, the result looks very similar to chips. But they are fried somehow unevenly (fried in a deep fryer). Some of the chips are burnt, and some are still soft like fried potatoes. In short, I didn't like the result. It is worth some more practice. But I liked the peeler. I have an old vegetable peeler. She's pretty good. But, as they say, everything is learned by comparison. Berner's vegetable peeler is a bit odd in the hand, but much sharper and safer. And she can also do various decorative functions. I'll have to try.
Bottom line of the day: I have a Berner grater! First blood was started (on a plastic grater Twin!)
Freken Bock
shuska , accept congratulations, happy birthday also. Take care of your hands! Well, what about the chips, something like a deep fryer, not a grater?
shuska
Freken Bock,, Thank you. But the complaints are more likely not to the deep fryer, but for now to my handles: not all potato plates are still even, there are thickenings and thinning. Apparently you need to fill your hand. By the way, you seem to have the same trough as I chose. Such a small one with corners. Is it convenient? I chose it because it has rubber feet and should not slide on the table. But I can still change it before I start using it. Is it worth it?
Freken Bock
Ol, the trough is not small, the same, only of a different shape. It's convenient for me, I like that the rubber feet do not slip, but I have nothing to compare with, only I have it.

Actually, I would like to know if the grater is good on it. If so, I'll leave it. I remember you talking about the peeler. So I think you should take a closer look at it. The one that costs 45 UAH in TSUM. (5in1). Cool! By the way, did you get my message with the address?
Freken Bock
shuska, the VIP-4 grater on the basket rises like a native, the legs fall into the right places, do not worry. The design question and that's it. I will definitely look at the peeler. I received the message, understood everything, thanks. Odessa is a kitchen gadget in my pocket!

I want to stand up for the BORK grater. Before that, Berner was about 10 years old. Unfortunately, everything fails sometime. The question arose about buying a new grater, since I could not imagine life without it. My husband decided to make a surprise and presented him with BORK for the new year. I myself would never have dared to make such an expensive purchase. Well, she's not bad at all. It takes up a little more space, but does not need to be held in your hands, it has legs and it stands on the table. She, how to put it, cuts cleaner. After Berner, you had to split the straw a little, and then everything crumbles by itself. More possibilities for regulating the thickness of the slices. As for the price, there are 10mm, 7 and 3.5mm nozzles in the basic set. Also a waffle blade. If you count everything, then the difference in the price of the sets is much less. Well, I hope that stainless steel also means something, in terms of agreement.

BORK is a gorgeous grater! I saw them. But of course very expensive. I bought myself a similar one, DEKOK. It is made of plastic and is cheaper. Cuts, rubs perfectly, there is an adjustment of the thickness of the slices. The kit also includes additional attachments. But what I like about it: it is a large work surface (length 40 cm) and a well thought out safety system. All knives with covers, first you insert them, fasten them, and then remove the cover. I haven't cut my fingers yet. Before that, I had a Burner grater for 14 years. And all these years I quietly hated her because every other time my fingers were covered in blood. The last time, when I almost cut off a worm of my little finger, I threw this Burner away, went and bought DEKOK. And I do not regret it at all!
vorona
I have a Berner grater for 15-16 years, cuts my fingers like new, the cleaning knife just broke two years ago - I bought a new one.
kaminka
Hurrah!!! thank you all for the advice now and I have Berner Vip 4
Yesterday I made a tomato-cucumber salad just with straws with onions and oil dressing, I love it !!!
Of course it is necessary to adapt, but in principle it is a very convenient thing ...
I have a similar one from Bergner, with a steel basin ... in general, I can't even compare ... from the advantages of the current, a basin ... the knives are crooked and in general the holder is inconvenient ...

now I'm thinking of buying a 10mm nozzle and a DecoStar grater for beauties

and another question - they have, the Berners have a piece for squeezing pasta, we have it costs about $ 30 ... nobody used it? especially since there is a dough for pasta mode in the bread maker ... and is this dough suitable for this thing or is it already a question on another topic ... there are different nozzles ... and my husband will kick me out ... for such a waste, but I am so I love all sorts of baubles for the kitchen ...
Mueslik
kaminka , will not expel! No one has been kicked out yet, the main thing is to emphasize in time: I made this deliciousness with the help of this or that kitchen trick, and without it it would have turned out worse or simply would not have had time to make it
An effective method helps to convince you of the need to buy another gadget ...
My cucumber and tomato salad is not cut by hand now, only on Berner, and they use different attachments:
combislicer husband
ml. son-wavy cut (waffle)
Art. son-insert standard 7 mm
And they no longer resent the soooo price! -For an ordinary grater
shiva
And thanks to the forums, in particular, this one, I bought myself this unit. I do not always use it, from time to time - wash laziness. It is often easier to cut with a knife - by the way, the knives are also Berner (I bought a set along with a grater because there were discounts in Metro). They cut with a bang, high-quality steel. I don't even know what I like more from Berner - a vegetable cutter or knives.
Boo Boo
I also bought it in METRO. Tested today. I made carrots in Korean. She rubs well, of course, and pretty, even stripes are obtained. I didn't like the fact that a rather large piece remains, it no longer holds in the holder, and it is scary to rub it with handles. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, tell me experienced grater owners.
Freken Bock
Boo Boo, experienced thermal owners with experience begin to take risks. And everything else, as you say: both the piece remains and does not hold in the holder. And it's scary to cut with pens.

When you rub the vegetables, then slightly push the pusher itself with your palm or fingers, so that the vegetable gradually comes off the needles to the very blades of the grater. Then there will be no leftovers.

Admin, yes, I kind of did it, but the piece still remained. It would still not be so offensive if the dogs were at home, it would be possible to feed them. But they are still sunbathing at the dacha, and ferrets cannot eat so many pieces, or rather they can, but I'm afraid they might get sick.

Here, as a happy owner of a grater, I will make an announcement for the residents of Riga, I have a 10% discount coupon for the purchase of a grater, as always, I found it after the purchase, but I will give it to good hands on the condition that I join the purchase, in terms of my plan I am interested in a pasta press, you buy a grater, and I buy a press, that is, let's go to the store together

Adjust - don't adjust - the pieces will still remain! Better to come to terms with this - take pity on your hands, and the pusher.
shuska
And I got used to cutting the leftovers using a fork. True, this trick is best done with potatoes. Just the remaining piece is lightly pricked with a fork and is dragged along the blades with a sharp movement.

so I finally bought it yesterday I bought it in our tsum, the place of sale impressed of course, everything is burner, etc., but a girl sells who has NEVER rubbed anything on her and who told me but nafig she needs it at all, 2 I will cut carrots anyway, I say, I'll leave now
generally bought, cut everything that can be cut, just happy

absolutely exactly written no remnants at all

although it is written that you can wash in cold water, we periodically put it in the dishwasher - it has not affected anything for many years. white and looks like new, does not crack or dull.

I tried to push the pusher, it doesn't work. Now I do without a holder altogether, I just hold it with my hands and rub the rest on a fork. It seemed to me that this is faster.
