Capelin with vegetables

Ingredients

Small-boned marine fish (capelin, herring ..) 2 Kg
Onion 300 g
Carrot 300 g
Vegetable oil 150 g
Tomato paste 2 tbsp. l.
Seasonings for fish
Bay leaf

Cooking method

  • Place a 100 g cut on the bottom of the slow cooker. carrots and 100 g of onion cut.
  • Top with half of the fish, salt, sprinkle with seasonings, put bay leaf and drizzle with oil.
  • Then repeat the layer of vegetables and place the other half of the fish on it.
  • And again, salt, sprinkle with seasonings and sprinkle with oil.
  • Finish stacking with vegetables.
  • Last but not least, I put tomato paste, which I diluted with 50 grams of water.

  • I cooked for 8 hours, but combined the modes. I started out slow (2 hours), then switched to strong (4 hours), and ended up slow again (2 hours).
  • My comments.
  • The smell is awesome as always.
  • Taste from childhood, canned fish.
  • Economy recipe. With its help, any cheap fish can be turned into yummy.

I didn’t feel much about smells. I constantly opened the lid and looked in. I could not restrain myself from poking with a fork. I'll show you later.
I cut the potatoes mediocre and the zucchini into slices and the pepper in strips. So the pepper and zucchini are boiled. And the chicken is so soft and juicy to me.
I will do the fish either tomorrow or on Friday. I still have to buy everything. I will definitely show you a photo. I'll all go and eat.

8 hours in a slow cooker - absolutely soft bones.
I have already cooked herring for 5 hours, but the bones have not become soft, so a long heat treatment is needed.

I prepared a fish according to your recipe, I really liked the proportions of fish and vegetables. Next time I will soften the vegetables in the pan and pour them on top of the fish, it will be more like the way my mother cooked.
