Well, as far as I understand, sooner or later plastic products get tired of regular pressure drops. And the more powerful the vacuum cleaner, the faster. Even a steel railway tank car under vacuum turns into almost a pancake, and here is plastic ...

Microcracks appear in the plastic, through which air begins to leak. To avoid this, containers are made of glass. Glass ones will last forever, but part of the product will still remain plastic. That is, it breaks down faster than a glass base. Plus, the silicone gasket can get damaged (accidentally tear, for example) or just get old. It's a pity to throw away an expensive product. And only its least durable half can be replaced. Of course, this will happen infrequently, but it's great that you can still do this if necessary.

Something is doubtful that this will come into practice ... Well, if in relation to more complex equipment, in particular, cars, manufacturers are doing everything so that we can travel for a couple of years and buy a new one, then in general ...
In addition, they constantly come up with something new, only to be bought.
God grant that I am wrong!

Even if I'm stupid .. How can the container lids not fit the containers? I was not talking about an independent device a la Wax, but about replaceable lids for glass containers. Called an accessory. And it would be more correct to be a consumable, right?

And, that is, we are each about our own?) I'm talking about the real "reusability" of glass containers (even the lids for the Shteba pressure cooker are sold separately), and Masha about the well-worn path of capping with separate lids in utility dishes.
It remains to find out what the manufacturer itself was talking about in the person S-t.

Yeah nuuu ... Why is there a dreamy one? Otherwise what's the point in glass containers when with exactly the same resource plastic are available. Perhaps even cheaper.

Although stop .. Maybe in glass and glass lids? Then I'm really making up too much.
I once had Soviet canning lids - glass with an elastic band and a clip. Cool thing, by the way. Only the rubber bands only lived for 5 years, oh, today's silicone would be at that time ...

They closed tightly. My grandmother loved to preserve everything with these lids. How I suffered so that I could open them later ...
But, as they say, the idea was not lost, foreigners picked it up, and now sometimes I buy honey in jars with glass lids, which are closed according to the same principle.

So what's in glass containers? I once happily typed in a few with a Brown blender.Beautiful and comfortable both in shape (rectangular and flat) and in size. So the glass parts are intact, and the lids that are being evacuated flew into different different parts. The pump nozzle sometimes works, sometimes not. Everything is discontinued and not repaired. There is no replacement for the gaskets. I just use it as a form, without closing it.
alas, sooner or later everything breaks down. But new interesting things appear.

A sad story about pricing in Europe
As a freshly baked owner of a vacuum vessel (Foodsaver V2860, something between CASO 200 and 300, but the ingenious solution for vertical storage) I went in search of containers.
first of all, of course, to your favorite forum. And here - these Status containers, a cool thing, also wanted a couple. I rummaged through the entire German Amazon and, nevertheless, found it (though under some left name, but they sure are) - but the prices ... 1 container for 3 liters - 30 euros.
No, I don't think this will work. I went to the manufacturer's page - you can buy in Slovenia and Croatia. The price of the same container on the "Slovenian" version of their page is 14.90 euros. This is better, I thought. But for visitors from other countries - a page option without a price with an invitation to ask for prices separately. Okay, I'll ask. Slovenia is not far (almost), shipping should not be expensive and the prices are probably about the same. I wrote and asked. They answered right away - but not with prices, but with a reference to their German partner. Like, buy from him. I went there, and there ... I'm just wondering if they sold at least one 3 liter container for 50 (!) To someone? Or two caps for 55? They want separate money for the shipment.
Robbery in broad daylight.
End of story - I ordered a 3.5 liter container from Unold from Amazon for 20 euros.
🔗
It used to seem expensive to me ...

Alycha
We have 4 liters of 180 shekels cost - yes, about 40 euros, I also looked on Amazon but did not find it, I'll look at yours

Kind time I bought vacuum equipment and containers, I tried everything. Arranges. Today came the post of manual status in the set. When you try to vacuum them, the lids are attracted, and one lock opens, already in 2 cans, is this how it should be? And about how much to pump? Kitford covers, also for some reason do not hold
francevna
SoNika, VirineWhen evacuating, the lid holds the vacuum, not the clamps. Everything is correct, it should be so.

I wrote about Status rectangular containers
Now I reread the question, and it says about banks.
SoNika
Girls, I call round containers cans, the essence of this does not change - the clamps dangle, but as soon as the valve is opened, they immediately press into place, so I did not regret it. True, I reread the instructions, alas, not a word to all containers and "jars". Thanks for the tip.
But I don’t understand how much to press approximately, as I understood today, if it is evacuated, then again the pump works easily at “idle”?
Cvetaal
It is necessary to pump out until the "pipka" in the center on the rubber valve is pulled inward
SoNika
Svetlana, thank you, otherwise it's not really written anywhere

I bought Redmond containers in a set of three pieces. None holds a vacuum. So pity! Money down the drain.

12-13 years ago we bought vacuum containers for decks, they also don't hold them at all, as well as lids from modern Kitford.

Dear forum users! Please tell us who is laying the greens for storage. I have washed, dried dill in a Hotter container after five days has become limp. the lid was retracted and held firmly on the container, which means there was a vacuum. What could have done wrong.
Samopal
nusha18, "Dead" products are stored under vacuum - cereals, coffee, meat and sausages, cheeses, etc. Salads, herbs are stored under vacuum in the same way as without it (in time, well, maybe a couple of hours longer) , and most importantly, the view is preserved better... Fresh fruits and vegetables breathe !!!!! Therefore, attempts to preserve fresh corn cobs, garlic, greens for a long time are doomed to failure. The time of damage will lengthen by hours, not months. But not everything is so hopeless. Either we dry the greens, and then into bags under vacuum, or immediately under vacuum, and, then, into freezing. The smell and vitamins will stay that way.

But no.
I store greens in a vacuum container. Not washing and not drying. This is how I bought a bundle, tore it off as needed and into a container. The storage time increases significantly. You can safely store a week or two. If it just lies in the fridge, after a week it either turns yellow or darkens, but you can no longer use it. And in the container I open it in a week, the greens are just from the store. After two, of course, you have to throw out some part.

nusha18maybe you don't need to wash and dry it? Try to vacuum it right in the container. Only so that unspoilt greens were
nusha18
Samopal, there are no problems with freezing)), I just wanted to keep the fresh one longer.
Rick, I will try to lay it not washed, maybe that will turn out. Thank you very much for your feedback))

I understand that the request was to be kept for a long time, and so, yes, the unwashed one is stored for a couple of weeks, it deteriorates faster in the bag, but the vacuum will not preserve for a long time, drying, or freezing, if for the winter.

For the winter, containers will take up too much space.

For those who are tormented by the problem of choosing containers, here are some tips.
If you choose between:
- plastic and glass, the choice is unambiguous in favor of glass;
- round and square, the choice is in favor of square ones, since storage of empty containers does not require much space (they are stored with a matryoshka and can be conveniently placed in the refrigerator);
- manual and electric pump, choosing an electric one. By the way, the pump from the Zepter fits the Brown molds, and the Zepter has a light indicator when there is nothing more to pump out.

Now about the forms themselves.
I have a Zepter and Brown (there were still plastic ones, but I threw them all out due to the inability to maintain a vacuum for a sufficient amount of time, and even more, you need to monitor them constantly, for air leaks). Brown has thin glass, Zepter thick. Accordingly, the area of contact of the gaskets with the glass is significantly larger, which means that the adhesive force is greater. The Zepter has never (not once in 12 years of use!) Been evacuated. At Brown, you constantly have to watch. In containers, the Zepter can be cooked in the oven, in the microwave. I use this all the time. Lightly salted cucumbers are ready very quickly. Saturated compotes. The stewed borscht is ready in a couple of hours. Yes, a lot of things.
I keep the greens washed and well dried in a carousel. Stores much longer than just in a container or bag. This is especially noticeable in cilantro.
Yes, the Zepter is more expensive, but it paid for itself many times over. I use it every day.
I have 3 square containers of different sizes, 2 round, 2 large cans, a universal lid for cans up to 1 liter and 1 lid for pots with a diameter of up to 18 cm. Everything is used.

Tell me, maybe someone knows.
I wanted to buy Redmond vak containers on the site, but it says
that you can enter a code word to get additional. discounts.
Suddenly someone in the know, help me, I want to buy it cheaper.
I want to buy on the company's website, where there is a discount now.

Everything is no longer necessary, I found the code word, but the discount on it is only 5 percent.

Today I received a parcel - a set of four Status vacuum containers and a pump for them as a gift. How cute they are. Made so thoroughly. I also have Redmond containers, so, no offense to Redmond, just heaven and earth. So it seems to me that four containers are somehow not enough. It is called, the appetite comes with eating. I especially liked the small containers of 0.5 and 0.8 liters - just like toys. While I'm very happy, let's see how they will behave in operation.

IMHO, just Redmond (pro-Fickuk or who are they in the original?) Containers are created with knowledge of the laws of physics.))
I can't say that I constantly use containers (more often with much cheaper lids from Wax, for a penny turning any suitable glass jar into an airtight container), but I do. It is clearly seen how much they change their size during vacuumization, while not a single crack has appeared and the vacuum has not been lost (t-t-t).

ksyusha1997
And who uses the Status vacuum lids, which are set for different container diameters? How do you like them? I want it for a long time, but the toad chokes everything. Since one size will be used, well, on the strength of 2. Those that are the largest. Small ones are not needed, there are Wax covers. And another question, what edge should be, suitable for any container? For example, will it be possible to close purchased sour cream in plastic?
Csscandle
Oksana, I have nothing to do, the sour cream cannot be closed, of course, at best the bank will flatten)
I can't even say why I don't use it ... maybe I forget, I use containers more often. My parents use a little bit, mainly for jars, but now I bought them different sizes of waxes, because it is less relevant.
I need to put the big ones closer, they will suddenly come in handy ...

Disappointed with Status containers.
Are worth a lot of money they are not worth at all
First, they are by no means a solution to food preservation. For the sake of experiment, I put freshly bought cheese into a small container, pumped out air with a regular pump, put it in the refrigerator - mold appeared safely, I discovered it exactly on the same day as on a piece of cheese that was just in an opened plastic package.
Secondly, my large container just cracked - a crack slipped through when the air was pumped out with a regular pump (I marinated the meat). By the way, the net of cracks that can be seen in the photo appeared literally two months after the start of using the (infrequent!) Container.

Disappointed with Status containers.
I bought the Status containers in the fall, I am very satisfied. I don’t know how much cheese should be in order to get moldy. But I did an experiment with Olivier salad, put it in a small container and it lay for a week. When I opened it, it was as freshly sliced, I ate it, it was the freshest. I don't know how long it would have lain, but now I pack all the salads in these containers. In winter, I salted cucumbers in them, and yesterday I did it for dinner. Well, the slicing of meat is perfectly stored, no stranger smell, as soon as it is sliced. Of course, I don't store it for a month, but for a week or a half, everything is great.

but my bottom of one container went with small cracks, and rubber pipettes were worn out on some of the lids, swing-don-swing, but it is impossible to evacuate.
But I really like that they are transparent.
murt
Nadyushich, time did not exactly track for what points of mold appeared. But they appeared, like on cheese in a regular package, without a vacuum. I checked it on a daily basis - there was no depressurization, the lid was firmly attached to the container. I also used a container for storing fish: I salted trout fillets, which also did not meet expectations.
I did not test it on fruits and vegetables, since their long storage does not correspond to our family grocery lifestyle, so to speak: bought - ate - bought again, etc., even apples, even cucumbers, even greens.
In general, it is what it is. Disappointed, they are not worth their money, I will not buy any more.
Nina B
Can you tell us which containers are suitable for the Kitfort 1502 vacuum sealer? The kit includes a hose for pumping out air, but there are no containers, which ones can you buy?
Sibelis
Nina B, if you get confused and buy a hose from the Gochu vacuum unit for 250 rubles, then any containers and vacuum lids will be suitable.
Kassandra26
Is it true that it marinates better in vacuum containers?
