Children of the new millennium are fond of modern toys, which do not always have a positive effect on the development and children's psyche.

The toy appeared in ancient times and was initially intended for various ceremonies and cult rituals. As evidenced by the excavations, clay animal figurines were still in the era of the pharaohs. Individual parts of the figures could even move using a mechanism. In ancient Greece, newborns were given a rattle. The toy served not only for the game, but also protected from evil spirits. And the Roman Empire brought us wooden horses with chariots. But the most characteristic toy of all times and peoples is doll... Its oldest predecessor also appeared in Egypt. But she gained popularity already in the Middle Ages. The doll served as a model of beauty and fashion and was available only to children from the most prosperous families. They individually ordered a ceramic or wooden beauty from renowned craftsmen. A little later, the boys began to play with tin soldiers.
 Nice and fluffy childhood friends - soft toys - won children's hearts only in the second half of the 19th century. Mothers and nannies constantly had to invent new toys for their children. That is why they came up with the idea of sewing from scraps of fabric and stuffing cute soft bears, chanterelles, rabbits, squirrels with straw or sawdust ... Subsequently, workshops and factories for the production of stuffed pets were opened. Our ancestors can boast of a rich collection of toys. What materials did not go into business: clay, straw, wood, dough, threads, fabric, vine, ropes, even pumpkin... It is worth remembering the folk tales about the Straw Gobychka or Kolobok. Currently, these toys do not arouse interest among the younger generation, and if they appear at someone's home, it is more likely as a souvenir.
During the Soviet era, toys were produced that were mainly of an ideological nature and reflected that era. For example, a toy military equipment or a pioneer doll. I remember how my girlfriends and I liked the dolls in which the eyes opened and closed, and when they were tilted back and forth, they made a sound like a baby crying. We had no idea that there could be toys like today.

It seems that the modern toy world is limitless. Toys of different sizes, colors and shapes, interactive, stuffed with newfangled electronics attract and capture not only children, but also adults. The toy is especially important for the early development and education of a child. It helps to form character, taste, is able to change mood, influence the emotional state.
Here they are, today's toy idols on display in supermarkets. In the girls department, everyone is greeted by the doll queen - Barbie. She appears in various guises with all the details: from princesses, mermaids, fairies, brides, to a business lady. You can buy a fashionable wardrobe, modern women's accessories, furniture, houses, yachts, cars. Barbie's rivals, Bratz dolls, are especially popular at present. These are tadpoles with big eyes, bright lips, in a trendy "outfit" and also with the necessary accessories. And then there are interactive dolls, ordinary dolls, household appliances, dishes, medical kits ...
The boys section is equally impressive with its assortment.There are cars of various models, a railway, ships, electronic robots, monsters, sets of pirates, Indians, special forces, pistols and all sorts of modern jokes. Shelves in other sections contain many constructors, sets with blocks, puzzles ...
Large, small, multi-colored, soft toys are patiently waiting for their customers. But, unfortunately, today is not their time. Board games are also not in great demand: loto, dominoes, games with dice and chips ...
Today, modern cartoon and movie characters have completely captured children's attention. And it’s okay if they were cute, soft characters. Today the idols of our children are Spider-Man, Shrek, Batman, Bakugan (monster balls).
Plus they are not of the best quality. And the promoted name of a children's store or supermarket is not a guarantee of quality. It happens that good and inexpensive toys can be purchased on the market. But, despite the place of their sale, you should always ask the seller to provide a certificate of conformity for a specific toy. If the seller cannot find such a document or advises you to come for it tomorrow, refuse to buy.
To buy a safe soft toy, you need to know the following: before buying, for example, a bear, pick it up, remember and smell. It should be pleasant to the touch and not smell like paint. If the toy passed this exam, then the next action is to lightly pull the paws, ears, - thus, we check the seams. If the eyes or nose of the bear are glued, you also need to try to tear them off: they come off easily - do not buy. After all, a child, playing, can accidentally bite off plastic parts and swallow. The worst thing is that they can get stuck in the throat and the baby will then suffocate. Therefore, if you give a child up to three years of age a toy, then it is better that the little animals have embroidered eyes, mouth, nose - they can no longer be bitten off.
Next, you should probe the toy and find out what exactly is inside: the insides should not be loose or prickly. If small granules are felt, they should be sewn into the bag, and only then inserted into the toy. Don't forget about labeling. Instructions for the toy should be written in a language understandable to the buyer. The box must contain the manufacturer or responsible importer, their address and telephone number. Toys with an unpleasant and too loud sound are also not worth buying. They can damage children's hearing. Only by adhering to these rules, you can save your child from a dangerous toy.
