Lentil soup with barley and celery in a slow cooker

Ingredients

1st = multicooker
1 cup red lentils
1/2 cup pearl barley
~ 200 gr minced meat
4 large celery stalks
2 carrots
3 cloves of garlic
salt
water or broth up to 8 divisions in a saucepan

Cooking method

  • Grate the carrots on a coarse grater, chop the celery and fry all together in the BAKING mode with 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil and 2 tablespoons of water for 5 minutes. Then add the chopped garlic and cook for another 5 minutes.
  • Rinse lentils and barley until clear water, put in a saucepan, pour in water or broth.
  • Make meatballs from farash or just add minced meat pieces to the soup - gently, do not stir! Turn on the EXTINGUISHING mode - 1.5 hours. If possible, after 40-50 minutes, open the lid, remove the foam and salt. Ready-made soup can also be salted. This will require less salt.

Oh, dear Lika, your beautiful photo is like a knife to my heart. Probably it is in Russian stores in Lisbon, for example. But when will I get there? And even then I doubt whether there is. Here they have not heard of pearl barley. And there is no buckwheat. My husband brings me buckwheat from Germany when he gets to the shops there. And a lot more from Germany. Starch, poppy seeds, canned cherries and honey mushrooms ... And here I go to the Russian store on vacation in August-September, when we go to the ocean.

Lika, don't you need to pre-soak the pearl barley? It's just that red lentils are boiled "into dust" quickly enough, which cannot be said about barley ...

Lentils do not boil as hard in a cartoon as on the stove. And I always pre-soak the barley in boiling water for 10 minutes before cooking in a mult.

Red lentils are boiled "specially" - they give the soup a velvety texture. But green is also okay. And without barley is good too. And one more thing: to make it really superfood, you can put smoked meats - a smoked wing, or whatever is on the farm. Or a dried mushroom.

Lentils and smoked meats are a completely different story. Lentil soup with fried vermix and bacon.
For multi: put the vermebel at the end of cooking for 3 minutes, turning on the Steam cooking mode.
