Puff pastry (yeast) 1 pack
Split walnuts 1/2 tbsp.
Raisins 1/2 tbsp.
Granulated sugar 1 / 4-1 / 3 st.
Lemon zest 1 / 2-1 lemon
Spices for gingerbread 1/4 tsp

Cooking method

  • Spices for gingerbreading are a large composition of spices, I took from Pokhlebkin, Uzbeks selected for me at the spice market. Can be replaced with any spices for gingerbread, nutmeg, cinnamon, cloves, etc.
  • The amount of ingredients is regulated by your taste preference.
  • First, we make the filling. Cut the nuts finely (not to dust) with a knife, rinse the raisins and dry them with a towel so that there is no excess moisture. Combine nuts with raisins, add lemon zest, granulated sugar, spices - mix everything and divide into 8 parts.
  • Defrost the puff pastry in advance, divide into 8 parts, roll each part (piece) with a rolling pin into a thin square about 20x20 cm.
  • Spread the filling on the squares and wrap them in an envelope so that the filling does not fall out of them when baking.
  • Place the wrapped squares-tubes on a baking sheet, brush with a beaten egg, sprinkle with a little sand on top (or you may not) and bake in a hot oven until blush and until tender.

Many people probably remember the confection "from those times" called "Walnut Rolls". Once upon a time I really liked these tubes and I often bought them, despite their quality of manufacture.
