Water 200 ml
Nori seaweed 1.5 pcs.

Salt 0.5 tsp
Sugar 1 tsp

Soy sauce, wasabi and pickled ginger for serving

  • For lovers of Japanese cuisine, I offer a beautiful serving of Japanese sushi - pomegranate sushi. It is done quite simply, but it looks amazing.
  • - First we cook the rice. Rinse the rice until white water five or six times. Then it is recommended to throw it in a colander with a mesh and dry for an hour. I skipped this stage. Put the rice in a saucepan and cover with water, bring to a boil and cook the rice under a lid over low heat for 12 minutes. The water should not boil too much. It is advisable not to open the lid. Then remove the rice from the heat. And let stand for 5 minutes under the lid, then gently stir from bottom to top, being careful not to damage the rice. If the lid has an opening for steam to escape, the water can evaporate and the rice burns. Or cook the rice according to the instructions on the bag. The rice should not lose its shape, but become soft inside.
  • - Mix the vinegar, salt and sugar, heat a little, not to a boil and stir until the sugar and salt are dissolved. (Forgive me, adherents of Japanese cuisine, but recently we have come across some kind of vigorous vinegar, so I add a little boiled water to the solution. And the rice is wetted better. In general, taste it.) Then gently spill the rice with this solution. over the entire surface. Then stir the rice and set aside until it cools.
  • - We bake pancakes. To do this, take two eggs and beat them with a whisk with a little salt. In a preheated frying pan, bake thin pancakes in portions of 2 tablespoons. (I got large, thin pancakes, I had to cut out the round pieces with a notch. Nori sheet measuring 20x20 cm, notch 8 cm in diameter. It seems to me that you can contrive to fry 6 small round pancakes from one large egg.)

  • - We make our grenades. Cut the nori sheet into four squares. We take the film and cut off a decent piece. We put it under the nori. We put the nori with the rough side up. Lubricate nori with a brush with water mixed with a small amount of lemon juice or water with rice vinegar. Put the cut pancake in the middle, its edges should not protrude beyond the nori sheet. Put a lump of rice on a pancake, formed into a ball with moistened hands, make a depression in the rice and put a piece of avocado in it, grease it with a drop of mayonnaise, you can also have a little wasabi. Everything to your taste. After that, lift the edges of the sushi up together with the film and tightly, carefully squeeze the nori around the rice to form a ball, twist the film, let it rest for 3 minutes, then remove the film and put the sushi seam down.

  • - With a very sharp and thin knife (preferably a ceramic one) we make a cruciform incision on top of the nori. Gently bend the corners and put the red caviar inside the sushi with a small spoon, trying to get the caviar under the resulting 4 petals.

Note

You can make this sushi with the traditional tomago - Japanese omelette. But this is not the kind of scrambled eggs we usually cook at home. Eggs, sugar, soy sauce, and rice wine are used to make tomago.
I made other sushi this time, so I think that's why I made a glass of rice, but I think that for six pieces 100 g of rice is too much. Here I gave a layout according to the recipe from M. Barhaeva.
I added a filling in the form of a slice of avocado dipped in lime juice.
