Why make mashed potatoes on purpose? It is enough to boil 1-3 fresh potatoes and use either potatoes or potato broth in the dough. I sometimes even put boiled potatoes with broth in a container and put them in the freezer for storage until the right time, when I bake bread, I put the containers out of the freezer in advance to defrost and warm the potatoes.
Using the technology, you can even bake bread from frozen potatoes and even from raw ones - but I did not do that. The forum has recipes for bread on fresh mashed potatoes with cheese, including mine.

But I prefer boiled potatoes and its broth.
