How did it all happen ...

I revised old recipes ... and found this one - probably known to everyone since ancient times. I immediately remembered childhood ... When these bagels were baked, it seemed that nothing could be tastier.
I decided to bake - and did not regret it. The recipe is simple, bagels are prepared very quickly. And the memories that arose during the preparation were simply priceless!

By the way, this recipe, in the process of adding it to our forum, has a new name: "Bagels with marmalade" Sandbox "" (c) Stеrn .

This is my childhood !!!
I loved these bagels and the marmalade was bought for them in apple boxes.

Interestingly, what kind of marmalade can be put in them now, there is no trace of that "from childhood" ...

Yeah, I remember. Such rectangular cardboard boxes are red-yellow. And in such boxes there was vanilla marshmallow; three pieces in each box ... Ehhh ...

Now they also sell plastic marmalade; and more variety - apple, plum, apricot ...

Wouldn't it work with your marmalade? We have a whole Temka for marmalades!
And my mother added guava jam, 3 boxes were brought to us such exotic, it was jam, like marmalade was cut and added to bagels. I could not stand it too much, it was too sweet, and I unrolled the bagel and left the filling to my mother.

Oh, you need to knock the granny on the bagels to spin the child, then nostalgia struck ...

I wound these bagels today. Despite the fact that I divided all the dough into 8 buns, the bagels came out like a little finger ... well this is what they would be if I divided them into 12 buns
Thanks for the recipe, very tasty

I roll each bun very thin - the dough is quite elastic ... but you're right ... they are about the size of a plump little finger. The volume, for the most part, is created by the same bar of marmalade in the filling. Sometimes I turn it around only 1 - 1.5 turns of dough, but it doesn't make them worse.

To your health! Glad you like it.

Recently I just made bagels 2 times according to this recipe, very tasty. Homemade marmalade had been devoured by that time, so I used ready-made apple jam and mango confiture (we sell it by weight). I liked the jam more, the jam dripped.

Lik, there is such a marmalade, plastic, I bought in the fall, recently made such bagels. Even somewhere there are photos in the depths of our forum, but I just don't remember where .... sclerosis ....

Before, when I could not find plastic marmalade, I bought a regular jelly and made tubes with it. True, this marmalade had to be wrapped in dough, otherwise it would have flowed out. It was delicious!

Anise
Lika, Platypus had all this assortment of marmalade. True, sometimes it ends, but it replenishes quite quickly.

Delicious bagels are obtained. I do it without soda. And I also use ground walnuts with sugar for the filling

How do you wrap this mixture in an envelope? ..
Freesia
The mixture is crumbly, but there are no problems with this. I spread it with a spoon, you can squeeze a little, but I just wrap the dough. I love the taste and aroma of the nuts in the shortcrust pastry.

I didn’t find plastic marmalade, I decided to take a chance with the usual Udarnitsa factory. It didn't leak anywhere, everyone liked the bagels, both at home and at work. Everyone said that in childhood they ate such

serebro, well! It's great that everyone liked the bagels. And in general, these bagels from the series "like seeds" - you start eating and will not stop ...

Sand bagels with marmalade

I went to Dixie yesterday and looked. There you can find sandwich marmalade. But I read the composition and it practically does not differ from the usual marmalade, it just has the shape of a single piece.
nut
Serebro - this is exactly that marmalade, I often take it for filling bagels, it behaves the same way as plastic marmalade - nothing flows out and does not melt - so you can safely take

Speaking a secret, I bought it yesterday, I could not resist

And here's the bottom line!
nut
Excellent How does it taste? How did the marmalade behave? The photo does not seem to be seen to flow - share your impression
serebro
The marmalade did not run anywhere at all. Excellent bagels turned out.
I didn't sprinkle the sah. powdery, because I don't like very sweet things.
In general, I really like the combination of savory dough and sweet filling.
I am doing them for the second time and will definitely continue.
poiuytrewq
serebro, excellent result! Bagels - feast for the eyes, - one to one.
Natusichka
And I made such bagels with quince jam, quince pieces also behave very well in bagels, and the taste ... !!!!!
serebro
Well, you still need to find a quince somewhere, and then make jam from it.
Natusichka
serebro, I apologize, but we have it growing, as well as apricot, cherry, sweet cherry, apple, pear, plum and other fruits. But somehow I didn't pay attention to it before ... but in vain ... this year I dried it in the dryer (that's something!) And cooked the jam. Cut into slices, covered with sugar and cooked in 3 steps. How I regret that I did not take her seriously earlier! This is an unsurpassed filling for pies and pastries! And I also do this: peel the apples, cut them into cubes (not large), put them on a preheated frying pan, sprinkle with sugar and fry, then add quince, vanilla sugar, a spoonful of brandy and, stirring, continue to fry (not very long). My husband said that he hadn’t tasted the filling tastier yet .... and I have an idea to put cherries in the filling (frozen, pitted), well, I love them .... and they will give charming sourness !!!!
serebro
Well, better late than never!
I think in the summer in the markets and we can find quince. Probably it is also delicious to add it to compotes.
Ehhh! Delight! Directly presented and spit

If you see, do not hesitate! The thing is awesome: in jam, and in compotes, and so, crunch (in the dryer). To my shame, only this year I learned that there are different types of quince, I have already tried pear and apple, both.

And I've already laid out this filling somewhere ... only I don't remember where exactly, the anesthesia has not gone away yet ...
By the way, if someone does not have quince jam, you can safely add pear or apple jam, if it is thick (in slices).
Klementina
Cool bagels! From childhood!!!! I directly remember how my mother twisted them, and I always carried marmalade;) My children were eating with milk, it cracked behind their ears! And no sugar!
Albina
It would be necessary to find the plastic marmalade. I will gladly do it, but for now, bookmark. Do they not increase in size on a baking sheet?

A little "distributed", so spread at intervals on a baking sheet.

Girls, bake, try - to your health! Thank you!

Bagels are great. Would a regular three-layer marmalade work? I'll try. I love everything shortbread.

Would a regular three-layer marmalade work?
Just try if ... Some marmalade melts completely and flows out. In such cases, I do not make bagels, but make envelopes (I completely wrap the marmalade in the dough).

Thank you!

nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo eeeeeeeeeeeeeeee !!!!
well, in a sense, it's better not to risk it, it's jelly marmalade, on gelatin, so it won't stand the baked goods!
better then with prunes, sweet, meaty or dried apricots, or dates ...

Thanks for the recipe for the perfect bagels! Made with quince jam, yummy. Only one drawback, they disappear instantly.

I remember this recipe since Soviet times, when plastic marmalade was sold in every pastry shop. Very tasty, recently made.
