Dear Julifera! I want to show off my hala. Baked according to the recipe of the very site that you indicate, the dough is also from there. Try it, it turns out very tasty !!!

2 tsp dry yeast
500 gr. bread flour (or 3 3/4 cups)
1/4 cup warm water
3 large eggs
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1/4 cup honey
1 1/2 tsp salt
For the glaze, beat 1 yolk and a little water
Knead the dough in a bread maker, let stand in a bucket for 2 hours.
Then divide the dough into 6 balls, cover with a towel.
Take one at a time, roll it into a thin layer, roll it up, roll it on the board,
roll it out so that the ends are thinner than the middle. This is needed for
challah forms and the dough turns out like flaky. Weave a braid as shown, by the way there is a video there. Cover with a towel and leave to rise for another 2 hours
(I put it in the oven, you can preheat it by 30-40 degrees)
Grease with glaze, sprinkle with sesame seeds or poppy seeds and bake for 35 minutes at 155 degrees.
Put in a cold oven !!! Then the challah fits a little more.

Here is such a challah I got

Well, here are my today's masterpieces, the first of 6 braids, I was a little unwise there, my hands just started to weave, but the second of 4 braids ............... she just came out super, she trudged

Festive challah (braid)
But the cutter, how delicious it is, as I wanted, now I will not buy (although I have not bought it for a long time because of the price), and now my are happy, like elephants

Svetik_
Yesterday I still finished off 6 braids ... here I stepped over one more stage, I didn’t make one more cake and then I’ll show

julifera but tell me this is what ....... your egg grease is so smooth, but I see how it turns out, can add some water or milk to the yolks a little ??? what to do to get such a beauty from all sides ???
julifera
Svetik_

I smear it with yolk right before putting it in the oven, I will brush it into all the cracks with a brush.
Do you stretch or roll out the cords and then roll them up into a tube?

It turns out that you have a sharp jump in growth in the oven, or maybe it was a little undershot in front of the oven?

In any case, it's still great that such airy
Svetik_
I roll it out, then roll it up and roll it out again .............. ...... I smear all the cracks with yolk, and then in the oven for proofing, first I heat it a little, and then I put it ................. my braids just like that parted
Come on, the most important thing is that I have almost mastered weaving, well, okay, if it turns out that way, the main thing is delicious .............. ...... next time I'll try to lubricate it with some milk

This time I did not have a jump, because it stood and melted almost barely in a lukewarm oven, but it did not grow too quickly, when the bake then rose a little and the braids turned around

I smear all the cracks with yolk, and then in the oven for proofing

I did not write very accurately - it is necessary to grease right before baking after proofing and the mustache will be evenly

Svetik_
LailoChka I made this kalach-loaf according to your recipe and this is what a handsome man it turned out to be and I already know how to weave braids from six plaits for one-two-three
The taste is simply awesome ............... ... I really liked the kalachik-chala
Yesterday, in emergency mode, it was done in the evening, of course, it didn't stand much like that, but decently .............. and here's the result. I think you need to roll out even thinner, otherwise such a butus turned out to be very soft and tasty ..........
Mine are just crazy about this, and even beautiful

Thank you very much for the recipe
DJ
Svetik_ Svetik what program do you put on? Will you turn it on 5 minutes earlier, or not?
Where can I watch a video of how to weave braids?
julifera
Here I found a video - how to make the braid more uniform, but I didn't know what to braid from the middle

Thank you, julifera , per recipe!

Lorik, I roll the kneading in Kenwood ....... it is very hard to knead such good with HP, and come up already in drying, but last time I put it in HP, kneaded so hard on the "Dough" program Basic, everything turned out just super

Svetik, did you put "Dough. Basic" together with the spreading system for the full program?
I seem to have decided to try, but somehow scary
Svetik_
Lorik for the full program and then I leave a little more while the proofing is

and what kind of butter, butter or vegetable?
I understood correctly, 3 eggs and 2 yolks? and for lubrication, these are separate yolks, right?

I will express my vision

Since the dough is more rich and contains sugar, eggs, it is better to add butter, especially since it is indicated in the recipe in grams. Vegetable oil is somehow customary to indicate in milliliters
DJ
I did it like that yesterday !!!
For a very long time I tuned in
She kneaded the dough, while she sat, following the example of Svetik on the belts, learning to weave a braid. Everything turned out great !!
Thanks for the recipe. Here is a grateful photo report.

Festive challah (braid)

in the context
Festive challah (braid)
so it should be?
in any case, it did not affect the taste, it was deliciously dared very quickly, now I will tune in for the second portion

It's probably the harnesses that rolled like a roll, that's why you got such a chic layering?

Admin answered for me, thank you very much!
Usually, butter is more suitable for such baked goods - because it gives a corresponding delicate creamy aroma, and vegetable oil makes a different taste, it seems to me a little rougher.

Thanks to the author, a wonderful recipe! Baked today, here's my darling
Festive challah (braid)
It does not look like a wicker (challah) at all, a more rich and incomparable taste - it is more suitable for pies or butter rolls. But all the same, many thanks, I got a lot of pleasure from the cooking process and of course from the taste.
Thanks to you, I discovered the braiding technique, I have never cooked it before. I take it to my bookmarks.

I have not yet mastered the skill of weaving challah more than 3 bundles, so I got three challah and two buns from the recipe dough.

And I immediately put on 8 tourniquets, while I learned (tried it right on the test) I thought I would tear up all the household members who tried to participate ...
But no matter what, I did IT
