IKEA decided to cheer up their favorite customers and on April 20, they revealed the secret of their famous meatballs!
Head of Home Kitchen Lorena Lorido explained that this is how the Swedish company wants to make life easier for people forced to stay at home due to the pandemic.
“We know a lot of people miss our meatballs, so we're releasing a 'homemade version' with readily available ingredients to help anyone looking for a little kitchen inspiration. Staying at home is hard, but we want to make life easier and more enjoyable for everyone. "

dopleta, Larissa, can you translate it into a recipe?

Ingredients for meatballs

500 g ground beef
250 g minced pork
One onion, finely chopped
One garlic clove, crushed or chopped
100 g bread crumbs
One egg
Five tablespoons whole milk
Season generously with salt and pepper

Ingredients for cream sauce
A drop of sunflower or olive oil
40 g butter
40 g wheat flour
150 ml vegetable broth
150 ml beef broth
150 ml heavy cream (30% -50%)
Two teaspoons of soy sauce
One teaspoon of Dijon mustard

Instructions for making meatballs

Combine ground beef and pork. Add finely chopped onion, garlic, bread crumbs, egg and then combine. Add milk, salt and pepper.
Roll the mixture into small balls. Place them on a clean plate, cover, and refrigerate for 2 hours (this will keep the meatballs from falling apart while cooking).
Pour some oil into a skillet and heat over medium heat. Once it's warmed up, add the meatballs. They need to be fried from all sides.
When done with searing, place the meatballs on a baking sheet and cover. Place in an oven heated to 180 ° C in normal mode or 160 ° C in convection mode and leave for half an hour.
Now for the creamy sauce. Melt 40 grams of butter in a frying pan. Add wheat flour to the butter and stir for two minutes. Then add 150 ml of vegetable and the same amount of beef broth. Keep stirring. Add 150 ml heavy cream, two teaspoons of soy sauce, and one teaspoon of Dijon mustard. Bring to a boil and wait for the sauce to thicken.
Serve the meatballs with creamy mashed potatoes or boiled potatoes.

And in the store itself at the checkout counters now stand with them! Earlier at the exit there was a shop "Swedish products" (I mean my Ikea-Dybenko)

Something only tells me that this recipe is very far from the contents in the bags and served in the Ikea restaurant. Rather, the opposite

The tastiest meatballs I've tasted. When I was there in the dining room, I heard a conversation that they live nearby and go to eat them almost every day.
smslisa
Thank you chef! And I wondered how to save!
Rita
smslisa, Tumanchik has a slightly different recipe. There are no potatoes in the original.

In St. Petersburg IKEA Sinyavinsky meatballs were sold, even before the age of 14.)

Now I was looking for proof of my words)) Of course, I did not find very ancient photos of the packaging, but here's another pre-forbidden note 🔗

They write about the Pit Product. But I bought them even earlier, when the Sinyavinsky meat-packing plant was the manufacturer (Pit-Product works on their basis as well), this is the year 09-10.
Maybe at the opening of the shops, the meatballs were carried, but for more than 10 years they have been made here for sure. Albeit according to the proprietary secret recipe)

I was buying meatballs there when they opened with us .. I was at the opening in 2004 and went there with my husband until 2012 almost every week! (The renovation was protracted) then they were definitely Swedish, and it was written ... then I don't remember, or rather I didn't look. Now I will find a photo of those that I bought .. then there were no chicken ones yet.
Fotina
I'm not talking about chicken either)

They had problems in Europe because of horse meat in 2014. And then they also announced that in Russia meatballs are made from Russian raw materials.

After that, the Russian IKEA chain reported that meatballs from European suppliers did not arrive in its stores and only meatballs of Russian manufacturers were offered to buyers, and therefore it was not planned to stop sales.

and so they found a bird and soybeans there)))

I cooked them! As far as I understand, the most important thing here is the sauce. But since I don't have different varieties of broths, I used 300 ml of broth from chicken breast, which I cooked for salad, and added a cube of vegetable broth. But the cube is too much, you need a half for such a volume. The rest is prescription. Very interesting! I haven't tried the original ones from Ikea.
