How easy is it to peel walnuts?
They brought me nuts in a shell, dig deeper and threw them, it turned out to be a difficult task. The nuts are not very large, thick-peeled, collected by a relative in Kislovodsk. They are somehow dirty in appearance (the walnut shell has not been removed everywhere).

How easy is it to peel walnuts?

I read in the internet that you need to soak them in boiling water to make it easier to clean up - I tried it, the water flows inside, the shell becomes softer, but still I did not like the method. I also saw a piece of the program on TV (not completely) - they advised me to anneal the nuts in the oven, put them in a bag and throw them all over the floor. I haven't tried it yet, I'm afraid I won't guess how many to keep in the oven and at what temperature.
I would be grateful if you could advise on how to deal with nuts without blemish, it is somehow a shame to throw out such a valuable product.

lega, Galina, I bought a long time ago such a nutcracker 🔗 , however, I often buy peeled nuts, but today I bought walnuts in shells, not small ones.
They do not enter completely into the nutcracker, half of it just enters - and pressing - and the grunt, split, turned over with the other end and again grunt, already the nut is easily disassembled into parts.
The difference from your nuts is that my nuts are thin, light.

But this nutcracker also takes quite strong hazelnuts.
It is this Teskomian oehokol that I like because it does not crack hard, no special efforts are made, the handles fit comfortably in the palm of your hand, and it is easy to cover the nut with your palm, holding the shell from flying out.

Previously, we did not often crack walnuts in the house with a hammer, while wrapping the walnut in a cloth so that the fragments of the shells would not fly apart.

such a nutcracker
Already two more Soviet nutcrackers broke on them. I hit with a hammer, it turns out, but dreary. So it's interesting - how are nuts peeled where there are a lot of them? Really, too, with a hammer on every thing?

well, for this there are cars, when nuts are not a bag, but bags

I remembered - it is much more convenient and less ringed to break a nut not with a hammer, but with a flat something - a stone, something heavy metal that fits into the palm.
You certainly won't miss a round nut. and the shell is covered with the flat surface of the nutcracker and scatters less.
But with a rag it is safer. I was taught to prick a rag back in Tajikistan at the bazaar))

GalinaLast year we brought thick-peeled walnuts from my mother from the dacha, we could crack only with a vice, there were a lot of nuts.

And I break walnuts with a knife. The blade of the knife (short, but not narrow) I put the tip between the flaps of the nut from above, I turn the knife, the flaps open. Most nuts lend themselves to this method of opening, but I crack the rest.
OgneLo
I open the walnuts with an old hammer and sickle opener, sticking the tip of the blade into the place with which the nut was attached to the branch, and turn the blade across, widening the gap. most break down into two whole shells and a nut. Those that cannot be split, I prick with a vice.
