Slow-cooked barley rice porridge with chicken

Ingredients

Pearl barley 2/3 cup
Rice 1/2 cup
Onion 2
Carrot 1
Dry herbs, salt, pepper
Chicken legs 4
Water or broth 3 glasses

Cooking method

  • The other day, somewhere in the Internet, I read the recipe for porridge from oats with chicken, of course, I did not save it, and I don’t remember the name of this porridge, but I decided to make something similar. Not really, since the chicken has to be steamed there for a long time, like until it dissolves, but I decided to just make it in a slow cooker.
  • I didn’t eat that porridge, but it turned out delicious, well, and lazily, everything I like.
  • I share ...
  • Soak the barley overnight, after rinsing it properly.
  • Peel and fry the onions and carrots, put the cereals and frying in a slow cooker, mix.

  • Salt the cereals, add your favorite herbs, I have a dry mixture of herbs, put the legs on top

  • Salt, pepper and fill the legs with water or broth. I forgot to defrost the broth, I filled it with water.
  • 3 glasses. In the process, I added water, you need to look at the consistency. I didn't want a thick porridge, but like a risotto.

  • We turn on the slow cooker on high, it took me 4 hours to cook.
  • Then I laid out the chicken legs and took the meat apart from the bones, you don't have to, but it's more convenient to eat without bones.
  • The result is a creamy structure, very tasty, barley does not give such a sharp taste. I liked it, I will definitely repeat it, because with minimal labor costs, it is quite a decent result.

Ira, such a beautiful porridge. I keep staring at these slow cookers. Maybe just use the languor mode in the cartoon? Isn't the rice too boiled here? Which one did you use?

I ran out of your spices from one package. This collection was delicious.

ang-kay, of course it is possible. And it will be similar. But all the same, slow food gives a completely different taste, apparently due to the thick ceramic pot.
I buy Rris from the Turks, I don't even know the name. It is not boiled, I do not know why, but neither potatoes nor cereals are boiled into trash.
And I brought myself dry herbs again today from Greece, also delicious with them, your Italian was
And the porridge was really tasty, my husband even ate it, although he does not tolerate barley, I did not understand it, I thought there was only one
Well, when he doesn’t know that barley is, he eats it for a sweet soul, if I tell him that it’s bulgur, it’s like my baby didn’t want an onion, and my grandmother told her that it’s not an onion, but a celery, so I rolled it lying

today brought back from Greece
I have a second packet unprinted. I'll open it. And she took care of those. So delicious. And what kind of composition is interesting? It was sharp. It can be seen that pepper seeds, but what else?

Ty, I asked a hundred years later
And rice like that, I like it, I only buy this, although it is not cheap.
Knows less -

after a hundred years
No. A year has just passed. Gee. And the question was rhetorical. There, in my opinion, it was not written at all. It's a pity, I just threw away the packaging the other day. But there were spices, like for bruschetta.
I'll see what is written on the second pack. But she is different.

But there are spices, like for bruschetta
Here is an attentive woman! For the bruschetta, there was left unopened. And what was it for? For spaghetti?
Lerele
Mirabel, yeah, delicious, and again very lazy, but I adore this, you lie around, read a book, and the food itself is prepared
ang-kay, I won't tell you, I don't remember already. But I always carry this type of trip from all trips.
We also have, but the price tags are already different for spices.
VGorn
Lerele, apparently my recipe! I love barley. But there is no slowness. I'll try in a cartoon, but what temperature should I set?
Lerele
VGorn, put 95 * or 90 *, but my slow is "hot", the high is about 100 *. Just hold it in the cartoon a little longer, you can set it to 90 at night.
And we have already eaten, even the husband ate and the children too. Although our children are not accustomed to barley, I rarely do it myself, my daughter never at all, so they probably ate it for the first time.
yildirimka
Thanks for the idea, I'll do it with rice, without barley, but yesterday I wanted to soak chickpeas, I think it would also be delicious
Lerele
yildirimka, I think that it will be delicious with one rice, only you can cook it less
Gayane Atabekova
Lerele, This porridge is called harisa. This is an Armenian dish.https://Mcooker-enn.tomathouse.com/in...on=com_smf&topic=488252.0 But it’s probably delicious with any cereal. Dzavar is a cereal obtained first from boiled for a short time, and then dried and peeled from wheat grains.
