Candy on a stick "As in childhood"

Candy on a stick As in childhood

Ingredients

sugar 10 Art. l.
water 5 tbsp. l.
vinegar 9% table 1 tsp
vanilla or essence as desired

Cooking method

  • As a child, my mother often made candy on sticks. Delicious, beautiful and no nasty stuff inside. Now I cook them for my children all in the same mom's mold.
  • We combine the ingredients.
  • We put to cook over medium heat. We need to get a sample for the ball. That is, if we drop the mixture into water, it will immediately harden.
  • Usually, by the right time, our future candy (mixture) turns yellow and the smell of vinegar disappears. The main thing is not to digest, so as not to taste bitter.
  • At this point, we grease the molds with vegetable oil, close them and fill in caramel, insert the sticks, let them cool

Precisely, sweets from childhood. I cooked it myself, but instead of molds I used cookie molds for nuts, and then sometimes I ran to neighbors for a real mold - squirrels or a bunny, I don't remember anymore. But this mold delighted me, you connect the two halves and fill them with syrup, everything is so simple and easy, but the taste .... Oh, childhood memories, thanks for the pleasant minutes Mart.

instead of molds
we sometimes still used tablespoons - when there were not enough molds. You can then pull out soft candies from them and twist them into a spiral candle shape.
we had three forms. My sister has one now - a bear, a fish and someone else
Mom stayed - Santa Claus, Snow Maiden, Buratino
I have a butterfly, a fish, a cockerel

Wow, nostalgia for childhood! such a mold, I inherited it, still Soviet production, thanks Marochka for the recipe, I take it to the piggy bank.

I have one solid, of two halves, bunnies, wolves, I need to find and take a picture. How to find I will bring a photo.
Marochka, is it possible to look at your molds?

Gypsies sold these candies. Mamalo shouted at the top of their lungs. Mamali is a rooster in Georgian. They were all in the form of cockerels. Apparently they had no other form. They cost 10 kopecks. But my mother did not buy us, she disdained. She said it was not known in what pots they boiled. Thank you. Returned to childhood.

Now there are various silicone molds for "cockerels", I like to make them even more than in the old Soviet aluminum halves with a bracket for connecting. Ali has a bunch of all kinds of silicone molds for caramel.

I also only remember the cockerels. I don’t know who sold it, maybe the same gypsies. There were different colors and sizes, large ones seem to be hollow. Tasty, I cooked it myself and always burned it out, but the bitterness did not bother me at all.

Tell me why vinegar is added?
Creamy
Vinegar is added in order to trigger the correct formation of the caramel crystal lattice.

Venera007are said to avoid crystallization of sugar. But I didn't understand why it tasted like candy in the candy, it seemed to me the same.

Thanks for reminding the recipe. I still have old Soviet molds for cockerels: a fish, a squirrel, a bear. Once upon a time my grandmother made them for me, and now I - for my children.

I cooked it, cool down, sit lick the spoon.
The cockerels are cold, the children are delighted. Only new molds, probably badly lubricated, took out poorly, picked out with a knife, several pieces broke. But already everything was used in this form

Girls, do not such candies cry? I cook now, and give it back tomorrow. What is the best way to store and where?
I thought to wrap it in a film or put it in the freezer.
