Rizogalo (rice milk cream porridge)

Ingredients

Rice 40g
milk 500ml
sugar 40-50g
corn starch 2 tbsp. l.
cinnamon, coconut flakes optional
salt pinch
vanilla

Cooking method

  • I suggest you try one of the Greek breakfasts. Delicate, creamy or yoghurt-like rice porridge with a slight vanilla smell, sweet, tasty, which kids love too.
  • It is prepared quickly and easily.
  • We wash the rice, fill it with water so that after the rice is ready, there is still a little water left.
  • Cook rice until cooked (do not salt).
  • At this time, we combine milk, vanilla, salt, sugar and starch (I take it with a small slide) until the starch dissolves.
  • When our rice is ready, pour the milk mixture into it and, stirring it, bring it to a boil and thicken (like jelly) over medium heat.
  • Turn off, pour on two plates and put in the refrigerator. As it cools, the rizogalo will thicken more and become similar to a thick cream.
  • Served chilled, sprinkled with cinnamon before serving.
  • There is a similar dish in Egypt, but sprinkled with coconut. To be honest, I love it this way and that))) and even with raisins.
  • My baby, who categorically does not want to eat porridge - asks for this every day several times.
  • This dish has one more plus ... little rice goes into it, so it will not fix the children like ordinary rice porridge.

Maroshka, Maro, and how is the name pronounced correctly?
RizogAlo? How is a compound word with two stresses?
This is the rhizo (rice) halo (milk) from galactis - milk?
I will definitely cook it! The recipe has long been in the bookmarks, but my son does not like porridge yet. Maybe after risogalo addicted?

and how is the name pronounced correctly?
stress on the letter O (first) rizOhalo.
yes, the name comes from the words rice and milk.
My son, by the way, also did not eat porridge at all. From this beginning. Now she eats rizogalo, buckwheat with gravy, and sometimes oatmeal with milk and fruit. Monka is not amenable to any)))

Woooot! I feel like I have to ask!

How well this porridge went with us !!! Thank you very much for the recipe. Sonulya for the first time yesterday ate porridge from whole rice, did not choke, did not spit, but pulled his hands! He didn't eat any kind of porridge they cooked for him, and this one was on both cheeks. While I give it a little, I check if it will be fastened, yet the children are different. There is one more bowl for the afternoon tea.
Delicious! Thank you!

PS And we no longer give semolina to children. It is considered an empty, emasculated porridge, just carbohydrates with no usefulness. So I don't offer my own at all.
