In fact, this muffin is served in England with sour cream or cream. But even without cream and cream, this cake will delight you with its exquisite taste.

Thank you for the recipe, I wanted to try for a long time, only sour cream sauce, forgive me for being meticulous, in England it cannot be - sour cream is a purely Russian product, in Europe they only tried it after the Second World War and they do not know how to do it.
Lola
Ksenia you are absolutely right about the sour cream. The fact is that in Russia, cheese like Mascarpone is quite rare and it is quite problematic to explain what a cream based on it is. In this regard, sour cream is mentioned as the most understandable option.

Baked an English muffin. The amount of vegetable oil was at first shocking, but then I decided to strictly adhere to the recipe (halved, because I have MB10). I left it to cool all night (I leave all the pastries overnight, just in case). In the morning I tasted a bite ... Not that bad, but ... I did not cause much delight. And then she whipped sour cream with sugar and poured a piece ... Just a fairy tale !!! No wonder the British serve it with sour cream sauce. I have not yet matured to sour cream sauce, but the simplified version went with a bang. I do not recommend it to anyone who will try to bake an English cake without variations of sour cream sauce. And it turned out non-standard and very tasty. On the website of a good kitchen, I read the recommendation to hang sour cream in gauze (8 layers) for at least 6 hours. And pour salt in a saucer under it. I nervously try to remember the nickname of the member of the forum, but I remember the advice, but the nickname - no ... Well, okay, thanks anyway, next time I will hang sour cream, otherwise it often shakes badly with me.
