Cabbage rolls with fish (lean)

Ingredients

cabbage forks
minced fish 600 gram
boiled rice 200 grams
salt taste
sugar taste
ground black pepper taste
tomato juice 500-700 grams
vegetable oil for frying
turnip onion 2 pieces
carrot 2 pieces
garlic 2-3 teeth
Bay leaf 1-2 pieces
sweet peas 4-5 pieces

Cooking method

  • If there is a ready-made minced meat, then we use it.
  • I had a hake, which I cleaned of bones and fins, twisted in a meat grinder along with a clove of garlic, onions and a small carrot.
  • Boil rice (about 100 grams) until half cooked. Refrigerate.
  • Mix with minced meat. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Disassemble the cabbage into leaves.
  • This can be done in several ways: put the forks in a bowl and pour boiling water over it, put in a pot of water and warm it up when heated, or warm it up in the microwave.
  • If the leaves after removal remain tough and do not fold freely, then they need to boil for a couple of minutes.
  • Put the minced meat in the leaves, roll it up with an envelope (I do not turn one side part so that the sauce freely penetrates inside).
  • Fry lightly on both sides.
  • At the bottom of the pan, fold cabbage trimmings or excess leaves. We need this so that the stuffed cabbage does not burn and stick to the bottom.
  • In the same oil (you can, of course, change it) lightly fry the onion, cut in any favorite way and carrots, also cut in any way.
  • Add tomato juice or tomato paste diluted with water.
  • Season with salt, pepper, add sugar.
  • Pour cabbage rolls.
  • Add allspice, bay leaf and a couple of cloves of chopped garlic.
  • Simmer cabbage until soft.

The dish is suitable both for non-fasting people and for fasting meals when fish is allowed. Any fish can be used. It turns out very tasty, although it may seem that the dish is strange. But there is bigos with fish, why not be such stuffed cabbage rolls? I have been preparing this dish for 10 years, if not more. We like. Recommend!

ang-kay, Angela, how restless you are! This recipe is unexpected. I presented it with salmon fish. Fried this fish is rather dry, but in this recipe it seems to me - "the grandmother ordered." I will definitely cook it, but in Siberia we have to wait another month for our cabbage.
