ground walnuts (I have 60 g of nuts + 50 g of poppy seeds) 280g

Cooking method

  • Povitice is a traditional Eastern European pastry, essentially a roll with different fillings. It can be poppy seeds, nuts, raisins, etc. I found the recipe in the application on my tablet and went for a walk around the tyrnetu. It turned out that the recipe exists in different variations, as they say, how many housewives, so many recipes. I wanted to make him right this minute, so I blinded him from what was. I did not have the necessary amount of nuts, I compensated with poppy seeds, which also turned out to be not much. But the filling is still quite thick.
  • The dough can be prepared in a bread maker by placing the ingredients, according to the instructions for the oven. I don't have a bread machine, so I made it in a food processor. I mixed everything except oil at first speed for 2-3 minutes. Stopped the batch. The melted butter was added after 10 minutes and kneaded at 2 speeds for 15 minutes. At the end of the kneading, the dough just slightly stuck to the hands. I put the bun into a bowl, covered it with foil and put it on the proofer. After 1.5 hours, the dough has almost tripled in volume.
  • For the filling, melt the butter and milk. Add sugar, cocoa, chopped walnuts, pre-steamed poppy seeds and yolk.
  • Roll the dough into a large rectangle thin enough

  • Place the roll in a greased U shape, cross the ends on top.

  • Place in a warm place for proofing for 1 hour. Before baking, grease the roll with yolk and sprinkle with sugar.

  • Bake in the oven at 180 degrees for about 1 hour. After 15 minutes, check the top and, if necessary, cover with foil.

  • Cool on a wire rack and cut after cooling completely. In my family, this is from the realm of fantasy. The household lasted only for 30 minutes, so it crumpled when cutting. In general, it turned out very tasty. There are many, many fillings and it is sooooo chocolatey, the dough is thin, and the top crust is crispy. Half of the roll was eaten immediately, the rest with an incredible effort of will took, so that in the morning there was something to enjoy with coffee.
