Borscht with canned fish

Ingredients

water (vegetable broth) 1.7-2 liters
potatoes 350 grams
large carrots 1 piece
turnip onion 1 piece
cabbage 350-400 grams
Sweet pepper 1 piece
bitter pepper taste
tomato juice 250 grams
tomato paste 0.5-1 tbsp. the spoon
sugar 1 tbsp. the spoon
salt 1 tbsp. a spoon with a slide
canned fish in tomato 1 can
vegetable oil 150 grams
Bay leaf 2 pieces
allspice peas 3-5 pieces

garlic 1 clove

Cooking method

  • Cut onion into cubes, carrots into cubes or strips.
  • Heat oil in a frying pan.
  • Put onion, lightly fry, add carrots and fry too.
  • Add tomato juice, paste, sugar. Fry until thick.
  • Put chopped potatoes in boiling water or vegetable broth, salt. Cook until tender.
  • Add frying. Let it boil.
  • Add chopped cabbage and boil for a couple of minutes (if you like crispy cabbage in borscht, just let it boil)
  • Toss in chopped garlic, three kinds of pepper and bay leaf.
  • At the end, add canned fish and herbs. Let it boil.
  • Cover with a lid. Borscht is ready!

Note

The weight of the vegetables in the recipe, peeled and chopped. Any canned food can be used in this borscht (sprat, gobies, mackerel, horse mackerel), but it must be in a tomato. A variant of borscht, when you can eat fish during fasting. You can eat cold in summer.

And I'm cooking sprat soup in tomato sauce. Potato-cube, onion-small cube I throw into the boiling water, followed by a sprat. A few minutes before readiness, I throw a handful of noodles and turn off the stove. 1-2 lavrushka leaves I throw into the soup at the very end. I really like this soup, I cook when I get bored with meat soup, borscht. I will definitely try to cook a borschik according to this recipe.
