brendabaker, I don't have a slow cooker, but I do have a slow cooker. I hope everything works out. I have a question - is it fundamentally to boil potatoes and pearl barley separately? Can't put everything down and leave to cook for 4 hours?

I boiled everything together in a saucepan and simmered together in a slow cooker. Apparently she described it somehow vaguely, sorry.
In a slow cooker, I would cook in soup / stew mode for about an hour and a half.
On my pack of pearl barley (Mistral), it was indicated 50-6 minutes on a low fire.
There is one nuance - the multicooker has a valve and the liquid, at least a little, evaporates. In a slow cooker, the water does not evaporate at all.
Therefore, with the amount of liquid, look at your hand, barley will still take water in so that the porridge does not work out.
