Eggplant with cheese

Ingredients

medium eggplant 4-5 pieces
ricotta (I have homemade) or cottage cheese 100g
feta cheese 70 grams
garlic 1-2 teeth
salt taste
basil (any greens) 3-4 leaves
Sauce
medium tomatoes (tomato juice) 3 pieces (250 grams)
turnip onion 1 piece
sugar taste
salt taste
any favorite spices taste
vegetable oil for frying

Cooking method

  • Cut the eggplants into strips 1 centimeter thick.
  • Boil water and boil the eggplants for a couple of minutes so that they become elastic.
  • I always have homemade eggplants. I collect them at the "young" stage, so I don't know what bitterness in eggplant is.
  • Drain the water. Leave the eggplants to cool.
  • Let's make the sauce.
  • Finely chop the onion, fry in vegetable oil.
  • Chop tomatoes, mashed.
  • Add to onion.
  • Season with salt, pepper, add sugar.
  • Boil for 2-3 minutes.
  • Ricottu (Ricotta at home) or mash cottage cheese, salt, add garlic, passed through a press and any herbs.
  • Pour the sauce into the mold.
  • Eggplant with cheese Put ricotta (cottage cheese) on half a strip of eggplant, cover with the other half. Fit into shape.
  • Eggplant with cheese Grate feta cheese (any other cheese) and sprinkle eggplant on top.
  • We bake for 15-20 minutes in the oven at 180 degrees.
  • Serve sprinkled with herbs.

Should this amount of sauce be enough for all 4-5 eggplants? I cut a Berner on a grater, the slices are thinner than 1 cm (and 1 cm seemed very thick), boiled them, then I did everything as written. It did not work to fold the eggplants in a mold in one layer, I did it in two layers. Top with cheese. I baked it. All mine refused to eat. I had to urgently convert it into a paste-caviar. What could be a puncture? I see that the recipe is good, I love eggplants, but somehow it didn't work out for me.
