Maizes zupa - rye bread and dried fruit dessert

Ingredients

Rye bread 10 pieces
Kittyatok 2 liters
sugar 100g
cinnamon sliver
favorite dried fruits 80 grams each
vanilla 1 tsp

Cooking method

  • “Maizes zupa” is translated from Latvian as “bread soup”, but in fact it is a delicious and satisfying dessert. It is all the more surprising that it is prepared from the simplest products - rye bread, dried fruits, and a pinch of cinnamon. This dessert will be served to you in any of Riga's cafes and restaurants.
  • Maizes zupa - rye bread and dried fruit dessertCut the bread, the most fragrant you can find, into slices and dry until crackled. I dried it in a pan.
Maizes zupa - rye bread and dried fruit dessertPour crackers with boiling water so that they are completely hidden. Close with a lid. It is necessary to leave it as long as possible, even preferably overnight.
Maizes zupa - rye bread and dried fruit dessertFill dried fruits with water. I only poured the raisins, as they were very dry. My dried apricots and prunes were very soft, and since the soup will be cooked a little more later, I decided that it would be enough for them to reach the desired condition.
  • Maizes zupa - rye bread and dried fruit dessertSwollen bread must be rubbed through a coarse sieve. Pour the water left over from soaking into mashed bread.
Maizes zupa - rye bread and dried fruit dessertThe soup should get this grainy look. You can't use a blender, as you just get a jelly mass.
Maizes zupa - rye bread and dried fruit dessertAdd dried fruits, sugar, vanillin, cinnamon and put on fire until the sugar dissolves. The bread crumbs will disperse slightly when heated and the soup will look like a liquid porridge. We put it in the cold. Serve decorated with cream or sour cream.
  • Bon appetit, everyone.
