Plum porridge

Ingredients

Millet 1 glass
Large potatoes 2-3pcs
large onions 2 pcs
vegetable oil
salt
Bay leaf
water 3 liters

Cooking method

  • Rinse millet well to clean water, pour over with boiling water. Peel and chop the potatoes. Pour water into a saucepan, bring to a boil, put potatoes, cereals, add bay leaf, salt. Boil until tender, 25-30 minutes. While the porridge is cooking, peel the onion, chop finely and fry it until golden brown.
  • After the porridge is cooked, drain the broth into a separate saucepan. Crush the porridge, add the onion along with the oil in which it was fried, stir. Pour the broth into a cup, add finely chopped herbs, you can have a little pepper and serve with porridge.
  • Tasty, the dish is very satisfying, we didn't have enough for a cup of broth)) An absolutely wonderful budget option. Outside fasting, onions can be fried in bacon, then the porridge will turn into a very masculine dish.
  • It is absolutely not necessary to add mushrooms to porridge, this is so as to diversify the contents of the plate))

Tatyana, great recipe, thanks!
I'll have to try to cook porridge in this way.
And from the sight of your mushrooms I am in a deep swoon. And there is no need to tell that in our places it is not worse. Yours are unusually beautiful.

Tumanchik

Well, wow, eh! Just yesterday I remembered this porridge! I also thought, do we have it on HP? If not, I wanted to cook and lay out!
Tanya, you are as if you read my thoughts!
Since childhood, I adore this porridge, and I confirm for those who have not yet cooked - do it, it's sooo tasty !!!
Tanya, thanks!

And as a child, my grandmother always cooked it, and we called all this business - kulesh! And this is a very old dish, my grandmother can remember herself, it was cooked by them, from generation to generation! The author wrote everything correctly, but the bacon, yes, the cracklings were necessarily overcooked and added fried with onions.

Thanks for the recipe. Indeed the recipe of our grandmothers. The proportions of millet were calculated earlier as follows - 1 tablespoon per eater and 1 spoonful per pot. Another version of this porridge. - You can add butter to the finished porridge, mash it with milk (naturally, onions, bay leaves, herbs and cupboards are not put).
Galleon-6
Yes, porridge from childhood, my mom also cooked this.

celfh, Tatyana, thanks for the interesting recipe!
Aaaaaa, but as a child I was not fed such a tasty treat.
We will make up for lost time.
celfh
Oh, what an unexpected interest))) so nice Thank you girls

What an interesting porridge, must be tried. And if all the ingredients are in a slow cooker and on the Milk Porridge mode? There probably won't be anything to drain there, just add fried onions, greens ... I will definitely try to cook something like that, I don't remember such porridge from my childhood, or maybe I just didn't know what was being prepared from what. My grandmother always had very simple dishes, but how delicious it always was!

I don’t understand why the broth should be served separately? Like then wash down porridge or a bite?
marina-mm
Tatyana, thanks for the porridge! I cooked it for lunch today, though the broth was not enough, I poured less water. Served just porridge with lots of fried onions. Delicious!
celfh
Marina, to your health!))
And today I finished yesterday's porridge, the taste is wonderful))
letka-enka2
I cooked it in a modern way, in a soon-cartoon, first I fried the onions, well, I poured less water, it turned out to be an excellent porridge (probably it’s not sluggish to call it?), Thanks Tatiana, for a delicious memory of childhood, besides, it’s relevant - the post is all- still.

Girls, and my great-grandmother, when everything is cooked, pushed and put it in a cast-iron pan. A lot of butter on top and into the oven. It was still languishing there. Taste of childhood.
celfh
Brigid, and the cast iron is not the same, and there is no stove
By and large, no matter what we cook, the taste of childhood is the best taste for each of us.
brigita
Yes, that's for sure. Thank you for reminding the recipe. I'm preparing it today
Tusya Tasya
And I, then, cook, cook, but I never said thank you. ... Very tasty, but all the time I did it with meat, without mushrooms.

Here we will finish the stuffed peppers and I will definitely cook them. This is how tasty things are accidentally found
tatyana1
I also tried this porridge yesterday. Super!!!! It looks like porridge, but it tastes like dumplings with potatoes!
redleafa
It's been a long time since I cooked an entu dish. I will improve. Respect to the author
solmazalla
And I .. and I today made fun of the recipe, hee .. I fried onions and carrots in the Headquarters, threw in the chopped chevapchichi, since without meat the man seemed to be not food, but to do something meat separately, there was no time to throw potatoes, stuck in for millet , but he is not! I took barley and water not 3 liters, but 2, since you cannot drain the excess from the yak. In short, yummy on the way out, we ate with pleasure! For a note: less water can be, it turned out to be a thin porridge ...Thanks to the author, I would never have thought of such a combination of cereals and potatoes.
celfh
Alla, to your health!

Tatyana, cooked porridge for dinner today. I liked it very much! Delicious and satisfying. Cooked as a side dish, but ate without cutlets with salad. Very tasty with broth.
Thanks for the recipe! I will cook often.

Bookmarked! My husband has a favorite cereal for any porridge - sweet, salty, on water or milk - this is millet, he often cooks it for himself with cracklings and fries, but so that also with potatoes - we have never tried this and did not know. One of these days I will definitely cook it, surprise my husband.
celfh, Tanya, thanks for the recipe!
