Cooking method

  • 1. Rinse chickpeas and soak in clean water for 12 hours. You can overnight.
  • 2. Cook the chickpeas WITHOUT SALT over low heat for an hour, or in a slow cooker on the stewing program (so that the grains do not fall apart).
  • 3. Drain the water, dry on a towel or sieve.
  • 4. Mix in a bowl: chickpeas, 1 tbsp. l vegetable oil, salt, spices to taste.
  • 5. Bake in a heated air fryer at 160 degrees for 20 minutes. The chickpeas should crunch like nuts or popcorn.
  • Do not overheat - it is easy to burn!
  • The recipe is universal:
  • You can use different oils: sunflower, olive, corn, peanut, coconut, sesame - all the time there will be different shades of taste.
  • If you use salt, pepper, turmeric, chili, garam masala, wasabi, then we get a delicious snack with beer.
  • If you use sugar, preferably stevia, vanilla, cinnamon, ginger, you get a sweet dessert.
  • These chickpea nuts are delicious to use instead of croutons in salads and soups. Unlike croutons, they do not get wet and remain crunchy until the very moment of use.
  • The only warning: if you put sugar or honey, then everything sticks together and it looks more like some other dish, and not nuts. And then washing the net from caramel is still a pleasure.
  • Therefore, although this is not very useful, if you want sweet grains, then I add flavorings to the butter: chocolate, coconut, banana, vanilla.

I also did not form a crust for a long time, I fried for 40 minutes in ag at 160 degrees. Then I increased the temperature to 180, a little crust formed, but not strong.
And in the morning, the night was kept in a closed container on the table, it became soft again.
It's still tasty, but not what I imagined reading the recipe.

You need to fry until dry, and then let it cool completely, either in the oven or on the table in an OPEN dish, so that the remaining moisture will fly away ...
I usually take one nut from the oven, let it cool on the table, if it crunches inside, then I take the rest out of the oven.

I'll have to try it in AF. And add oil, although that recipe is without it. By the way, so as not to wash the mesh and the pallet, I put a piece of Teflon mat.
