Cooking method

  • This is a sooooo simple side dish. It's just mashed potatoes with carrots in one bottle, but it's delicious. The birth of this dish happened a long time ago, when I stewed potatoes and obviously overdone carrots there. However, the output turned out great: the potatoes had a slightly sweetish carrot flavor, and it went well. Friends who came to visit (and potatoes were stewed for guests) thoughtfully said - "Such a delicious side dish. How did you do?" "I accidentally went too far with carrots!" "And that's all ?!)))". Well, yes ... and that's all ...)) Chucha will always successfully drop something into something, attach the leftovers or forget to put it. Sometimes it turns out to be downright masterpieces.
  • 1. Peel potatoes, especially large ones can be cut into a couple of spare parts and put in a saucepan.
  • 2. Peel the carrots, cut them into washers about 1-1.5 cm thick and put them in the pot as well.
  • 3. Peel the garlic cloves and go there.
  • 4. Fill with water. There should not be very much water, the upper vegetables should not hide under it. Put on fire. Boil - salt. And cook until tender, until the potatoes are well cooked.

  • 5. Drain the broth remaining during cooking to almost zero. The fact is that boiled carrots are a rather "liquid" vegetable, they are not starchy, like potatoes, so if you leave the liquids, as you usually leave them for mashed potatoes, you can get a liquid. It is better to drain everything completely into a glass: adding is always not a problem, but you will not be able to thicken the liquid puree (although sometimes the situation is saved by a chicken egg, keep in mind for the future: break an egg into hot puree and mash quickly). So, you drained the broth, put the butter and crush in the mashed potatoes with a potato grinder (it's a crush). Push hard to get the carrots well too. I don't recommend a blender. This is a well-known fact, but suddenly someone missed it. After the blender, something happens to the starch and you get a natural paste instead of puree. Checked))).
  • 6. Take a hand mixer and additionally whisk the mashed potatoes. The puree will turn out to be more homogeneous, tender and airy, some kind of light. I was taught this a long time ago by one aunt, and I do the same with ordinary puree, which is without carrots. This stage is optional (well, if you don't have a mixer), but oooo very desirable - take our word for it. Who knows Chucha, in the course that Chucha will not advise bad))).

Found it! The book "vegetable and cereal dishes" 1957. There, the ratio is almost the same, even a little more than carrots.The serving contains 140 g of potatoes and 80 g of carrots. Only they do not cook them together, but it is instructed to simmer the carrots until cooked in a saucepan with fat, rub through a sieve and mix with mashed potatoes. This is definitely more hemorrhoid.

Milk will not spoil anything, nor will cream and butter. Do everything as you used to, just add carrots and garlic to the potatoes when cooking.

Garlic and cream are all the same. Potatoes are cooked with the addition of chives (without carrots), then pounded and poured not with milk, without butter, but only with heavy cream, which is both milk and low-fat butter at the same time)).And that's all.
