Treasure chest

Ingredients

cake 3.5 kg
cake 1 kg
wafer sheets
mastic
skewers

Cooking method

  • By popular demand, I will try to explain and show how I assemble the chest using wafer cakes instead of a backing under the chest lid. It is very comfortable.
  • First: you can make 2 different cakes according to the composition.
  • Secondly: it turns out much more stable.
  • Thirdly: nothing remains inedible.
  • (One of my customers generally said that the children stole the jewelry. She lifted the lid, pulled out the skewers, closed the "chest" and cut it like this, it turned out 2 cakes in one. She said that it was very unusual and beautiful) (I don't know, I haven't tried it myself )
  • So...
  • In the lower tier I have a composition "milk girl": cream + mascarpone, strawberries.
  • In the 2nd tier - "toffee".
  • I use waffles like this:
  • Treasure chest
  • they are dense, size 15:30, cut off the size we need 15:25
  • Treasure chest
  • Cover with melted chocolate on both sides (do not put in the refrigerator. Let the chocolate freeze like that, then it does not fall off the waffles)
  • Treasure chest
  • We put together a lid of any shape on waffles
  • Treasure chest
  • I cover the chest with pieces, draw the texture with a stack
  • Treasure chest
  • I make imitation of boards directly on the cake
  • Treasure chest
  • I paint with an airbrush
  • Treasure chest
  • I do the same for the lower tier.
  • Treasure chest
  • The bottom tier turned out to be 11 cm in height.
  • We take 3 skewers, insert them from the back wall at a distance of approximately 1 cm, from the edge approximately 2-3 cm and cut them to a height of approximately 1 cm.Cut the skewers that are closer to the open edge a little higher (2 of them are enough) approximately 2-2.5 cm.
  • It should look like this:
  • Treasure chest
  • Installing the cover
  • Treasure chest
  • We decorate to your liking
  • Treasure chest
  • I'll tell you about homemade molds for shells and other decorations some other time (I also promised)

Note

I also collected the lid of a suitcase with money on wafer cakes.
I glued 2 sheets together with waffles and chocolate. It turns out oh-oh-very durable and tasty!

Natasha, I don't understand between the point of spreading chocolate on a waffle and already getting a rounded shape. Did you put a waffle on something while it softened or what? Or am I missing something?
Lyalulya
the wafer does not become soft, on the contrary, after being coated and solidified with chocolate, it becomes unbending. I collect the cake directly on the waffles like this Treasure chest ... waffles serve as a substrate.

Natasha, thank you very much for MK (I am one of the many petitioners)
Your chests are each cooler than the other, and treasures are generally super
To my delight, the order was postponed to the 25th, there is still time to ask around
1.What kind of chocolate is better to coat waffles with? Glaze?
2. Is the weight of your cakes listed with the mastic? And how much was the total weight?
Irina Dolars
Natasha, well done!
Nice cake! And a wonderful MK to help cake makers!
Parallel
thank you very much for MK! very, very useful information!
Lyalulya
Thank you girls for the compliments. I will be glad if someone uses this thread.
Innochka, total weight with decorations 4700.4500 weighs cake already covered with mastic, I cover waffles with loose chocolate (icing) I haven't tried

I still have a question
Usually, when I collect the cake on a substrate, I "glue" it with cream (so as not to fidget). How about a waffle sheet? Also cream or put the first crust on the not yet frozen chocolate?
Lyalulya
I do not grease the chocolate waffles, I put the cake on the Frozen chocolate
Plague
And me again
Natasha, what is the maximum weight of the lid have you ever experienced?
Customers "joked" to me, postponed again to tomorrow. .. went on the night shift and collected both pieces of the cake. The lid without ganache and mastic (and this is another 500 grams) came out in 2500, now can the skewers withstand such a weight? Maybe stick more of them?
Lyalulya
wow, you've created a niche for yourself, I have never had more than 2 yet. of course stick it in more (although in a regular cake 5 skewers can withstand such a weight) but just in case, stick it

I know I have to write a report. It's a shame, it's annoying .... I expected that this cake would become a decoration of my "cake folio", but alas ... ... I failed the task, the lid did not become, but lay down
My biggest mistake is that I allowed the customer to manipulate me. Now on Sunday, then on Monday, then again on Sunday and, accordingly, everything turned out in a hurry ...
On business. Natasha, thank you so much for the hints in PM and here, for MK Everything seemed to be clear and accessible theoretically and in practice everything worked out, until the installation of the lid (I must say at that moment the customer was already waiting under the house) here I still have one moment before still not clear: How should the cake hold on skewers if the waffle in chocolate is hard and they cannot pierce it even 1mm? My lid was swinging so that it would not have stood for a minute, not to mention transportation
As a result, I pulled the lid back and forth so many times that the wafer backing began to bend in place of the "seam" (my cake size is larger than the waffle solution, so I had to make a double layer with a cross). With tears in my eyes, in the literal sense of the word, but put the lid on the chest (with a shift).
These are the pies I got so tired of today, I called myself all sorts of bad words .... "There is no need to go into what the mind is not enough for!"
I don't have a photo of the cake, I didn't have time ... the customers promised to send

And, as expected, numbers: chest 4100 (27 * 19, h = 9) Pancho with cherry
cover 3050 Kinder Delise

Lyalulya
Do not be upset Innochka, everyone has this, I roared because of the cakes more than once, I take into account all my crap and the next time I do not repeat them, if you look closely at a pair of skewers stuck with sharp ends up, they are then stuck into the substrate, but I think You did it anyway, I don't understand why your lid went, I really don't understand, I also fastened the waffles together, and still everything worked out, the only excuse is the weight, I have never had a lid with such a weight.

but I think you did it anyway
not a fig, I didn’t do it the other way around, I tried to stick sharp ends with the bottom, foam plastic backing ...
I've been pondering everything for a day already, at night I had nightmares this is what I thought up: the cover, really too heavy for this design; the bottom cake, it seems to me, should have been denser, and not like my "Pancho". Here I will, like a thread, bake a cake for the house, collect it on a waffle substrate and practice setting it on skewers
Natasha, I never tire of thanking you, including for the moral support
