We have a two-story house, and since my husband and I are not young, we immediately (even at the construction stage) decided that we would have a built-in vacuum cleaner. During the construction phase, the craftsmen made grooves in the walls and laid the channels necessary for the vacuum cleaner. In the right places, they put such sockets into which the hose from the vacuum cleaner is inserted, and everything is turned on with a button on the hose. Pros: 1. no need to carry the vacuum cleaner across floors and rooms; 2. fine dust, which, when using a simple vacuum cleaner, settles on surfaces after a few hours, is thrown out into the street; 3. all other dust is disposed of in the sewer (there are models with disposal in a large container); 4. you can carry out wet cleaning (this requires a water supply); 5. 9 m hose allows you to process a large perimeter; 6. there is a hole in the kitchen (called a scoop); as soon as you open it, the unit automatically turns on and you can easily remove spilled cereals, flour, etc., and just sweep the floor and throw it into this scoop. Manufactured in Canada. Highly recommend for cottage owners.

The second unusual device in our house is a gas fireplace (made in the USA).
Benefits: 1. real flame; 2. there is no smell of gas; 3.heats perfectly (the flame has 3 degrees of regulation; 4. there is no dirt from firewood and coals; 5. ceramic firewood (weight about 300 grams) creates the full effect of burnt coals. When connecting, an agreement with the gas trust is required! If I find a photo now, then will post.
Built-in vacuum cleaner

Very interesting! My sister is under construction and wants such a built-in vacuum cleaner. I only need to bomb half the house. In general, only if when the repair will be. But I can hardly imagine how it will look. The main thought that occupied me was whether there would be blockages in the garbage channels? Muso comes across different (I have a lot of hair from a dog that tends to get tangled in balls; dry leaves from plants that are not small, etc.). In the event of an emergency you push something hard into the hose of an ordinary vacuum cleaner and that's it. And if this emergency is in the trash canal in the wall?

And yet - where is the main "installation" (power unit) located?

The entire unit hangs on the wall in the boiler room. Garbage in the canal does not get stuck (we also have enough cat hair and leaves in the winter garden). Occasionally something like a pencil or pen gets caught, but it gets stuck at the first stage, in the hose and is easily removed, since its head is collapsible.

Usse understood, thanks for the clarification !! What kind of vacuum cleaner do you have? To have a look ... Do you have enough power, maybe there are some claims to it. Well, this is to find out from a real user ...

Drainvac (Canada). Power, I think, 2 kW (at home, there is no one to ask). 250 sq. m is enough. There have been no complaints (t-t-t) until now (he is 7 years old).

I also thought about this at first, but changed my mind. Well, so what if it's built-in? With a hose and a brush, you still need to run around the house, and make an effort to clean the floor. And the robot vacuum cleaner does everything by itself!

The fact of the matter is that the hose and the brush do not weigh anything and you do not need to drag them along. And we no longer run around the house, but move around. All such a laborious process of vacuuming with the help of a built-in vacuum cleaner is carried out by the grandson and granddaughter. And the robot vacuum cleaner needs to be recharged all the time, but I, however, do not argue. There is English. the proverb "one man's meat is another man's poison" (what is poison for one man's meat) or "they don't argue about tastes."

in your version, I see only one plus - all the dust leaves the room, and does not rise during cleaning, as it happens with ordinary strip sweepers, so your version is ideal for allergy sufferers.
And so ... It's good that while the grandson and granddaughter live nearby. We don't want to run around the floors with these "weightless" 5-meter hoses.

By yourself I don't feel like running around floors with these "weightless" 5 meter hoses
Who is not allergic in our time ?! The second plus is that you don't have to run to shake the bag, and that's not enough! The hose is 9 meters long and there is no need to carry it: it lies on the floor and lies. After harvesting, it is folded on a special device. Out of the simplicity of my heart I shared my device, and now I'm not happy.

No, no, you misunderstood us. It’s very good that you shared your tidying device. But in this topic, each of us is trying the technique that he wants, but YET does not have how to adapt for himself. In your case, some of us would have to (as already written earlier) turn half of the apartment, making strobes. And this is unrealistic. Immediately, he brought his robik from the store and he began to master the premises in a businesslike manner, and he charges like a mob phone. And the fact that each owner gives his robot vacuum cleaner a name, does this not mean a tender and reverent attitude towards him? Let me doubt that your vacuum cleaner, embedded in the wall, has a name. In short, I support-down with slave labor, the future is undoubtedly with robotic cleaners. The curtain.
